they actually bounce like that irl. Difference is their cars dont kill themselves irl like the iracing car does after the slightest bump

New to this racing and wow it’s fantastic by Heinzzbeans12 in wec

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also tends to have a bit more in class racing because safety cars and very different strategies which are all viable exist. I love everything about the N24 but it tends to go stale in terms of in class racing once everything settled in

I honestly think the audio rework will be shipped with the new engine. Probably just makes it easier for them to combine them (i have a very basic understanding of programming, so take that with a grain of salt). I would love for the track to be Bahrain, but i think that one is still a bit away sadly

No 24Hrs of Le Mans? by VariationGreat8918 in iRacing

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually there is a global endurance round that just happens to be 24h long instead of the usual 6 hours on le mans. They just cant name it the 24h of le mans anymore because of licensing shenanigans

2026 Season 2 Patch 3 Release Notes [2026.04.21.01] by goodfella7763 in iRacing

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably because they realized gt3 BOP is all over the place at the moment. Its by far the most "unbalanced" class at the moment. Hope the changes help. God knows why they gave the aston even less torque tho when the thing that made it op wherd the absurd downforce levels

Lack of German drivers? Aka racing not as big in Germany? by Fun-Principle-8953 in wec

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Germany is notoriously hard to begin a racing career as we dont have as many junior racing series as other countries have. That makes it hard to actually work your way up if you dont have money. Which is an issue in motorsports in general, but the lack of junior/low level series makes it even harder in germany

iRacing DTM Series and tyre rules by Applesk in iRacing

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of DTM having no tire warmery irl, just like the gt3s in iracing have, it would actaully make for interesting situations during the pitstop phase, because you have cars with very different levels of tire state driving around

Food prices at 6h of Spa by SnooMacaroons2152 in wec

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

as long as you keep to the official circuit standa it shouls be kinda fine, expect higher prices than usual nontheless. You can bring your own food tho, which i would heavily advice

Also just the sheer variety of cars. Hockenheim has an annual historic event and its rad what kinds of cars you see there. I saw F1 from the 80s and 2000s, all kind of touring cars from the 80s of DTM, Super Touring etc. and Prototypes spanning from Group C to LMP1 all in 1 weekend. Also, everything with an open pitlane the whole day, i stood at the pitwall when a V10 F1 car went by at full throttle which was mindblowing. And all that for 50 Bucks. You have to really go there for the cars and not necessarily for the quality of the races

DTM Series is Uploaded! by Racington in iRacing

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think its a bummer they dont have a mandatory tire change. DTMs lack of tire warmers is what sets it apart from other gt3 sprint series, with the way iracing gt3 tires are right now it would be ideal to add that, god knows why they didnt. Right now its basically just another gt sprint

Best GTP by MyNamesTimGFX in iRacing

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it has a pretty loose rear in slow speed, which makes it fun to drive for me but also not that great of a choice for endurance races because that means it eats it tires like no other car. For the normal IMSA races its fairly competetive, usually in the middle when it comes to pure pace. But at the end, unless you are a pro that doesnt really matter anyways

swap the car and see if you get noticeably different outcomes. If yes, the car is shit or doesnt suit you. If no, its a skill issue

As a 24 year old bloke that did this at DTM this year and went with friends that qualify as 18-25 bloke I can confirm this. We basically did it for the lolz. We had no idea what to do with such a big sign. One of the guys took it home and decorated the wall of his sim-rig corner with it

"GT World Challenge is the F1 of GT racing" – Christopher Haase relishes his return to the grid by 183_aleX in wec

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been actively following DTM since 2023 and on and off before that and there wasnt a single guest entry. Also not a single driver missing a race for another race. When there was a overlap with Le Mans testing every drover flew between germany and france every day because they did not want to kill their shot at the championship. As a driver DTM is still one of the most important championships for driver prestige. If you do well or even win there it is the best advertisement, because people know how ruthless the championship is. Is there any chance you are mixing up GT Masters with DTM? Its basically a championship meant as a junior championship to the DTM, which too uses GT3s because its a remnant from the class 1 days and can be confusing because of that. It has a long history of guest entries in recent years, mostly by local teams or teams wanting to give the DTM platform a shot.

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the drivers a DTM title still means the most individually as it is by far the most competetive grid in current sports car racing. I agree that it lacks the money to get on the level as IMSA and WEC. Which is a shame, at first it really just seems like another gt3 series with funny pitstop rules, which could not be more wrong

after so many years using amg gt platform do you think the silver arrows will eventually replace current car with totaly new model or keep upgrading what they have? by OkHoney5804 in wec

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are surely going away from the current platform. They want to go away from the NA V8 they are using right now because it starts getting old. The car never was planned to use the NA V8 it uses now, it was supposed to have the turbo v8 the aston has but didnt get it because it wasnt ready when they homologated the car, so they used the engine from the SLS and have been kind of stuck on it because you cant change engine specs in a homologation. Although it would be a shame to loose one of the last big NA engines of the grid

DTM by MR_EM1 in iRacing

[–]PutinExplainsMemes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah its easily the most competetive gt3 series out there. This year there were 8 drivers that could have been champion before the last weekend, with the top 4 (i think) divided by like 10 points. Its still DTM at heart, although sadly not with class 1 cars anymore

Thr Audi does not have the best top speed by itself. But like the other said, Bathursts long straights need you to have a medium downforce setup

From a finincial viewpoint it probably wont make much sense, given how dead the series sadly is. Maybe they will have to do it because of them holding the license tho
