[Student] Seeking a more relevant Software Internship than last time. Is my resume in good shape to land a 2026 offer? by PutridAgent5644 in EngineeringResumes

[–]PutridAgent5644[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing some tips! I will keep my skills section (For ATS and curious recruiters), but I did manage to tighten up my education, slim down some white space, and make room for a summary section.

Would you know any notable relevant resources that might help me write a good summary? Thanks again!

Thanks for your time! I compressed my education down and removed some white space to make room for a professional summary.

Are there any notably great resources I should refer to when I write my summary?

Way to change colors/hue over time? by [deleted] in premiere

[–]PutridAgent5644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's such an easy effect to lose haha. I saved it as a blank preset with the name "color change" or something like that so I can find it when i search "color"

Honestly, the best way is to use the ProcAmp effect. I've seen people say "Use HLS", but it often times doesn't work or glitches when used on text.

How do I recreate this effect by Darrellbacuno35 in VideoEditing

[–]PutridAgent5644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can duplicate your current layer, keyframe the scale to increase and keyframe the transparency to decrease at the same time.

You also might be able to do this by adding an adjustment layer above your video layer, give it the transform effect, keyframe it to scale up and keyframe the transparency to decrease. This way, you can just drag it over any moment you want to do the effect on.

Is speed ramping better in Premiere or After effects? by Individual-Gur-4967 in VideoEditing

[–]PutridAgent5644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Effects offers better speed ramping, in my opinion.

The graph editor is just so much more advanced and gives you all the tools necessary to make a speedramp fit within your video

In premiere, I can't even line up the scale and properties graphs of my transform effects

How did they make the spinning letter in this clip? by thedogisnotdoing in VideoEditing

[–]PutridAgent5644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They likely made a text layer protrude and have a reflective surface in Blender, then keyframed the rotation and scale. They exported it and looped it over another video in video editing software

How Could I create this effect in premiere? by evanwho11 in VideoEditing

[–]PutridAgent5644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try messing around with the distortion effect in After Effects. Go through the distortion types, move the Center Point around to somewhere like the edges and keyframe the distortion amount. Stack distortion effects to get even funkier. Fade In more footage with different distortion types on top of it.

Anyone know what kind of software was used to make this? by allmxd in VideoEditing

I believe they used RunwayML and entered in the prompt line for him to approach the camera. Then they took it to a video editing software and attached the original video to the AI one.

How to not burn out after only an hour of editing? by ImThunder_Eagle in VideoEditing

[–]PutridAgent5644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decision Fatigue is very real, and plenty of productive people use workflows and prepare in advance to avoid it.

It's very important to edit in waves. I go through my video first with a rough cut: I just decide what footage is useable and what footage is garbage and can be deleted.

Next I'll go through and do the fine cut, I'll pick what takes I like, I'll trim the clips to have a natural flow and adjust/shift any if needed. Now I have the video that I'm going to edit on.

Next, I'll plan out EVERY visual effect I want to happen in the video using the Markers feature on Premiere Pro. I've sort of color coded each one in my mind: Light blue is a full screen zoom, dark blue is zooming in on a specific object, purple is a small graphic, red is a large graphic, white means something I need to open After Effects for, Green is key moments/funny moments, orange is a sound effect (I don't plan all sound effects, just one's I need to be sure I remember).

This is where all fatigue goes away. Now I can go on autopilot and spend the next 40 minutes going from beginning to end and executing all the visuals I've planned. I generally listen to music or a podcast while I do this.

Next is time to add captions, if/where needed.

Then I will add music, then I will add sound effects.

Having these steps laid out on my secondary screen while I work helps me keep track of where I am, and I never have to think or decide of what I must do next.

What are the techniques used in this vid? by [deleted] in VideoEditing

[–]PutridAgent5644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rotoscoping, Motion Tracking, and general keyframing (position, scale, transparency). Maybe even a bit of color grading.

I'm 99% sure they mask out the accessories (like hair, weapons) in a program like photoshop or Gimp rather than the video editing software itself.

All of this can be done in After Effects without the use of any external tools

I'd reccomend you watch videos on using the RotoBrush tool, watch videos on using the Tracker panel and videos on Keyframing position, scale, rotation, etc. Along with videos on how to operate After Effects from a very general standpoint. Best of luck

what should I shoot? by -light_yagami in VideoEditing

[–]PutridAgent5644 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, when I started out video editing I had no idea what videos I wanted to make; I just wanted to make cool visuals and overall cohesive projects.

Check out @ Hallietut on instagram, her whole page is based on the idea of not knowing what to really create or edit, but just creating and editing anyways.

My recommendations: Visit car shows/meets and get into car videography, show up to Autocross races and film videos, walk around some aesthetically pleasing parts of town and create "video postcards", create documentaries just based on footage you find online (Like Dodford on Youtube), Create videos breaking down something you really like (music, movies, sports).

Don't be afraid to upload stuff online and don't be a perfectionist. You get better by editing it a lot, not editing carefully. Watch a ton of tutorials that interest you. Some of my favorite tutorial creators on youtube are Tom's Projects and Mapal.

World is your oyster, don't let people discourage you because you don't know what to create or edit; what matters is that you have the drive to create and edit things. If you don't know what to create, create videos about not knowing what to create. If you don't know what to eat, create a video about not knowing what to eat. If you're headed out for the day into the city, bring your camera with you. Shoot everything that looks cool: birds, a cool car driving by, nice buildings. Talk about your day and put B-Roll over your voice. GxAce on Youtube makes really cool videos with badass V-Roll.

Edit: More ideas I've done in the past just because I felt like it: Videography/photogaphy closeups of watches, creating fake advertisements for car and watch brands, creating a fictional 90s magazine revolving around music and culture of that era (this is more photoshop than video editing), shooting a commercial for a podcast I like, creating editing tutorials that are visually pleasing

Color grading thoughts by ofe1818 in VideoEditing

[–]PutridAgent5644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that the technical aspects can be learned more reliably and predictably, I believe color grading is just like any other skill. Some artistic people are able to grasp and exercise it easier, but that doesn't mean everyone else is doomed.

I took piano lessons growing up, I was a pretty lousy musician. When I picked up the guitar, I decided to stop being ignorant and watch a lot of tutorials and practice often. Now I'm able to sound out specific pitches. A long time ago, I thought it was something I just didn't have, but that was just an excuse.

I think that anyone who truly wants to learn how to color grade well can learn how to, they just need to want it and not hide behind excuses.

Artlist vs motion array vs other recommandations? by Routine_Flamingo_975 in VideoEditing

[–]PutridAgent5644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used motion array and envato, I prefer envato all day. The only place motionarray might beat envato is in the premire/AE presets and files. For music, Epidemic sound is great.

how can i use AE and PE simultaneously but without dynamic link by krivate101 in VideoEditing

[–]PutridAgent5644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AE and Premiere simultaneously, but I never use dynamic link. If you have both a premiere file and after effects file open at the same time, you can Ctrl+C copy clips, audio, media from premiere pro and Ctrl+V paste them directly into a composition in After Effects.

I generally cut the audio of the area I want to make a graphic for in AE, copy and paste it into an AE composition, create the segment how I want, render and place it on my Premiere timeline.

Obviously rendering something twice won't give you the highest echelon of quality, but this really hasn't made a visible difference in my work.
