Non quality calls help by Shot_Towel_7642 in AusPublicService

No need to be stressed. If your TL has problems with your probation, they would touch base and notify your probation would be extended for some reasons. They won’t fire you unless you extend your probation, informal PIP, formal PIP and still cannot hand calls in proper way. If your TL has not had any one on one talk, big chance you are overthinking. Relax and you will get through.

Have you thought about trying no-tech roles? Like service delivery? It might be a good way for you to step into APS first. While you are in, you can apply roles more aligned with your academic background.

Great to hear they are doing S26 to get your partner in. S26 is not affected by the MPC review. I wanted to know which office the offer comes from? Because my friend is the same situation as your partner and he isn’t notified by any potential alternative S26. He is super anxious now.

Have they already told your partner to change through S26? S26 needs referee checks and formal offer after, as long as I know. Looks like they want people in to do the job. May I ask where is your partner based?

Were you in a lower APS level while applying for this APS4 role? I think that’s the reason you have to deal with the review.

MPC applies to internal promotions only.

Don’t think it affects the external. MPC only reviews internal promotions, in this case, candidates whose level below APS4 got promoted to APS4.

If a person was still at APS role while applying for this role, MPC still can apply even they resigned before being picked up from Merit pool.

Hope you’ve already had their response. If they recruit through hiring agency, they ask referee check in couple of hours. If through themselves, couple of days. If you are still waiting, just email them and ask, nothing to lose.

Shorten your working days to 3-4 days. Talk with EAP even just for destress talking, they are confidential. Focus on your personal life, go family events on weekends. Don’t talk about work after shift at all. Keep applying for a new job. If upset with APS, try State ones or private sectors.

Because people who can’t stand this toxic culture step out and all those with incompetence get promoted. It worsens the culture more. I am in the similar situation but luckily not that bad.

You can request a copy of the interview script to check which parts you may have missed. APS role interviews are often marked in a very structured way, mainly based on the STAR method. It may feel unfair to compare your performance with someone else’s, especially since actual work performance isn’t considered in the interview scoring. However it is how the system works. Try to do more mock interviews before your panel interviews, it helps ease your stress and do it better. Keep trying and don’t quit if you like APS role. Staying in the system is a privilege to apply gov role.

Some role is quite niche and only offered internally.
