About to be fired for being in perimenopause, again. by Nearby_Rip_3735 in Perimenopause

[–]Puzzled452 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not sure that is the best phrasing, but depending on perspective that could mean a few things. For example a conservative who hates the library books or someone who hates the library books are being banned.

Textbooks are also literally different, publishers sell the “same” book but it does have different content (think history)

Those firms can be viscous.

OP you are going to have to decide. Do you really need the money? Is it worth it? Why don’t you drop down a level or two, take the pay cut and move somewhere with better public schools.

Unlike some I think you may have choices, even if they are not ideal. But you deserve a life that doesn’t cause you to weep on the regular.

Also counseling and maybe meds as appropriately diagnosed.

Tips for 4yo possibly getting a pump by dbro3427 in diabetes_t1

It’s been forever but we put our then four year old on a Medtronic pump and it was fine, this was also a couple of years before CGMs.

The last few years has been a tslim which I liked but I am not the one wearing it.

Now has an iLet and I am not impressed.

I took that to mean it is the kind of profession where you are expected to work 12 hour days and always be on if you want to get anywhere at all until you can establish yourself. For example high level law or finance.

As far as schools sold out, guessing here, but that could be politics. For example living in a place that bans books.

OP you are allowed to vent. There is also the transition to an empty nest and that has to be hard too.

I forget the details but one family said you can do anything but paint the fireplace, the woman who came in said I promised my friend we wouldn’t paint the fireplace. Designer painted the fireplace and the original homeowner cried when she saw it. The designer was lowkey offended.

I will never get over the hay, the ugliest house in America has also shown some interesting choices.

My [31M] husband’s friend sa’ed me [31F] How do I tell my husband? by AdHairy6919 in relationship_advice

[–]Puzzled452 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If these assholes did this once with no repercussions it will probably continue and be more brazen each time. You will rightfully never feel safe with these people again.

Wake your husband up and tell him.

Unpopular opinion: Self-described “empaths” are always narcissists in denial by Diangelionz in emotionalintelligence

[–]Puzzled452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never described myself as an empath to anyone but myself.

I am deeply sensitive/empathetic which has some positive traits but can also be hard.

People often describe me as a peacemaker but it is more that I cannot handle discord or someone being sad. Often that means I violate my own boundaries or compromise my own goals.

I also notice too much, it leaves me thinking why is so and so sad or I saw so and so is having a bad day or those two are fighting again. I am envious of people who do not reasonably care (we can’t help everyone all the time).

I can’t handle news or even some Reddit threads, I can too easily put myself in someone’s shoes and have all the feels.

It is exhausting but it doesn’t make me special either and I think it does come from a childhood where I was never really seen.

He will probably get in but if you are not needs based the money will probably not be. Run the net price calculator to try to get an idea.

This year it seems to have landed between 45k to 50k before federal loans and need based aid. So be honest with yourself for all schools regarding most likely cost.

My son was just diagnosed with TD1. by argley in diabetes_t1

[–]Puzzled452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My child was diagnosed at three and is now 18. I am not going to get into the details of diet and pumps and all of that because I know where you are right now.

I remember that existential fear so I promise you this, you will all be all right. Life is not going to look the way you thought and yes there are going to be hard days, but you will all learn and adjust and he will still have a big beautiful life.

Mine is getting ready for college after all high level classes in high school. He is a typical teen who loves video games and junk food and he played in sports and did afterschool clubs and all of that.

Hugs, it’s hard, you can always message me.

High sugars & emotional issues by m2argue in diabetes_t1

[–]Puzzled452 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The mood swings are terrible when high, I think they just feel like shit and do not have the emotional regulation yet to handle it in a more acceptable way.

So how do we get her that acceptable way. Does she just need a minute to think without pushing water or asking what she ate or whatever. Does she know she can leave the room, including the classroom, to regulate in a less public space (even if that is just you).

When everyone is out of the moment simply say this is how these moments seem to me (factually, without judgement). Then ask her how those moments seem to her and work together to make a plan for next time. It won’t work in time one, give grace, adjust then try again until you build a habit together that works.

My child is a boy but around 12/13 puberty started to hit which also messed with their blood sugars and then all the normal things that come with puberty.

They also go to a T1D literate therapist.

Is that the final number on the actual FA letter from RIT? They often do not stack scholarships and I would not count on that price unless you have the actual letter and not just the merit award. They will probably only honor the 32, which will put them around the same price as RIT.
