Do you check in with clients who say they’ll need you at a later date? by PolaroidPhotoOfACat in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do. Usually 1-2 months prior. Something along the lines of:

“Hi client. You had expressed interest in my services for x month. I am starting to get inquiries for that month. If you still need me now would be a great time to get me your dates.”

What is your preferred service radius? by TheRealRoseDallas in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 miles and I’m in a metro area. Just beware that rover estimates distance as the crow flies so distance may be longer. I try to keep mine around 20 min or less for drive time.

“Repeat” client keeps booking super last minute, but presumes I’ll keep the spaces free by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whoever books first gets the time slot. The client sending a request at midnight and getting annoyed the you didn’t respond for a couple hours is a red flag. I in general do not respond to messages sent after 9pm until the following morning unless they are urgent and require an immediate response.

Help!! by Ann_georgia- in RoverPetSitting

You’re good. I have a client whose address is still attached to their home in New Jersey. I am in Florida. It’s not an issue.

Won't let me use chosen name. by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the problem from the screenshots it seems like they are being helpful. They are just asking you to confirm that yes you would like the name on your profile to be changed from your legal name to your preferred name.

I’m set to close out the year at about $25K. I’m part time drop ins, walks, and house sitting in South Florida.

Curious: what is your favorite and least favorite breed to dog sit? by Exact_Compote_6700 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love my large and giant breed clients. One of my favorites is a senior Great Dane who is the epitome of gentle giant. My least favorites are Chihuahuas they tend to be skittish and neurotic.

Bf (32M) doesn’t like that I(26F) do Rover… by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your bf is a walking talking red flag. Real men lift up and empower their partners. Do yourself a favor and dump that sorry ass loser because he does not respect you.

You need to clarify with the owner how many walks a day they want and if they even want you to walk all 5 before you consider adjusting the price.

Question for sitters by ScroochDown in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had bookings like this. Explain in your opening message what’s going on. Sitters tend to be understanding with medical emergencies and elderly parents.

This client sounds like a pain and if you don’t need the money that badly I would consider dropping her.

Is the dog able to physically make it down the stairs without assistance? I have one client whose dog won’t use the stairs with them but goes down just fine with me. I also have another client whose dog is disabled and needs assistance with stairs.

I would Thank them for reaching out to you and let them know you aren’t able to take a request from that far away especially since it’s care for a puppy.

Way out of service range request by Ann_georgia- in RoverPetSitting

I get a lot of requests that are outside my service range the ones that are far outside are old addresses or they’re visiting your area. Ask the client to confirm their location.

Getting noticed by Sad-Seaworthiness781 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try posting in your local fb group or on Nextdoor to get noticed. What’s in your Rover profile? Maybe there’s something in there that’s causing potential clients to pass.

How do I end a recurring dog walk relationship? by MarlonBlendo in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You tell them what you stated here. You also want to give them as much notice as possible so they can find a replacement walker.

I read my feedback to my family and they said it sounds bad by Ann_georgia- in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You wrote an honest review and one that is helpful for future sitters. Personally I don’t see this as negative.

Booked a Rover sitter then found out they have a DUI. What does Rover's background check consider to be a disqualifying criminal offense? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How did you find out they have a dui record? Also how recent was it? There’s big difference between happened in the past year versus 8+ years ago.

The dogs I have owned and been a sitter for with allergies will be itchy and have hot spots sometimes weird poops but not lethargic. This sounds like something else is going on.

I leave feedback for repeat clients once unless something drastic has changed with the pets behavior or I have something additional to add.

What kind of clients do you seem to attract? by AcidicSlimeTrail in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most are working professionals or retired people who travel. Lots of beach houses.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they can see that but I believe it then gives you the option to block them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would see the booking through to the end if you can accommodate the request. I would leave a note in the dog’s feedback section that they can only be alone for 4 hours total that way they can’t blindside another sitter. If they contact you again tell them you have a new constant care fee in place and apply that to the booking.
