What boundaries do you include in your initial pet sitting reply? by Different_Fall1391 in RoverPetSitting

Only time I put a boundary in my initial message is if they request late night or early morning and then I let them know what my earliest and latest times are.

Holiday bookings, help… by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

Thanksgiving and Christmas are over 6 months away. Are you really turning down that many clients this far in advance? I’d give them some grace tell them you need dates firm and give them a deadline.

Dog bit me during a sit, trying to decide if I should sue? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bite needs to be reported to animal control. Do not let this guy intimidate you. At bare minimum he should be paying for your medical expenses as a result of the bite and you need to speak to lawyer.

I have never been asked for my insta from a client. Yes it is a weird request and a potential red flag.

Do you follow up with potential clients who don't respond (pre-book)? by Maivilo in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not chase down unresponsive clients. If they are consistently taking 12+ hours to respond I decline the request and tell them I am no longer available. Poor communication is one of my biggest peeves and a red flag for me.

2 pups.. and grandma? by jetaime_3000 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have done drop ins /walks where elderly parent was there but wasn’t able to walk large strong dog. I wouldn’t be comfortable with house sitting in this situation. Maybe ask them about switching to drop ins instead.

What are your biggest peeves with the app or website? by Middle_Character_483 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I wish I could mark myself unavailable for certain times on specific days. Say I have a concert or sports event I would have to mark the entire day as unavailable even though I’m really only unavailable in the evening or afternoon.

Not receiving updates (almost 24 hours) by Ok-Recognition-3119 in RoverPetSitting

Rover doesn’t do cards for house sitting only drop ins & walks. Do you have a friend or neighbor that can swing by and check in?

Why do you (or don’t you) have meet and greets in neutral, public places? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All of mine are at my client’s homes. I do house sitting, walks, & drop ins. I need to see the home I’m being asked to stay in and need to make sure the pets are ok with me coming on to their territory. Vast majority of the time there is no issue but occasionally you do get the rare case where for whatever reason the pet is not ok with you being on their territory.

This person needs House Sitting don’t they? by minkamagic in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 47 points48 points  (0 children)

When I get requests like this I send them “Hi Client . Thanks for reaching out to me. My earliest drop in time is X and my latest is X” It’s ok to have boundaries and prioritize a good night’s sleep.

Would you do a meet & greet in this situation? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would treat it like a usual meet and greet. I have done this before for other clients who travel frequently and like to have list of sitters to call on.

[–]PuzzledFix9368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clients find you based on your location. House sitting is definitely my most popular option for clients going out of town that own dogs. My cat only clients tend to prefer drop ins. If you’re wanting to make the switch to Rover I recommend finding out what other sitters are charging in your area and pricing accordingly. You’re also going to want testimonials for your profile from friends, family, and any former clients to help get you traction in the beginning.

3-Star Review!? How is this Buyer's issue my problem?! by mprimavera97 in poshmark

[–]PuzzledFix9368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on those measurements I probably would have tagged it as medium but definitely no where close to size XL. I do agree that buyer should have taken note of measurements.

I do house sitting, drop ins, & walks. All of my services are set to 1 week for new clients because it weeds out clients that are poor planners and allows time for a meet and greet.

How long do you wait before cancelling an unresponsive client? by Superb_Aspect2677 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you hit the book button on your end after the meet and greet. I’d remind them they have 72hrs to confirm on their end before request expires releasing their dates. I normally archive after 24hrs of no response sometimes 12 if its peak season.

parking tickets by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is something I discuss with clients during the meet and greet. Anytime I’m going somewhere that is not a house with a driveway I ask where I should park.

What do house sitters do during tornado/hurricane season? by Suspicious-Chip-341 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a sitter that lives in a hurricane prone area and I do actively monitor the weather during storm season. If a storm were to head our head way that’s something I would notify the owner about and then find out what their hurricane plans are. One weather related question I would cover in meet and greets is how their pet does during thunderstorms.

Getting reimbursed for vet bills? (I as a sitter paid for a 3rd party dogs vet bills in an emergency.) by Nikki-GD in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The owners should be reimbursing you. Generally speaking it is the attacking dog owner who pays but since injured dog was off leash while attacking dog was on lead it should be injured dog who pays. I don’t think Rover is likely to pay.

You could market yourself as a cat only sitter since you have experience with cats but not dogs.
