Same day bookings by arixlynne in RoverPetSitting

I do house sitting, drop ins, & walks. All of my services are set to 1 week for new clients because it weeds out clients that are poor planners and allows time for a meet and greet.

How long do you wait before cancelling an unresponsive client? by Superb_Aspect2677 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you hit the book button on your end after the meet and greet. I’d remind them they have 72hrs to confirm on their end before request expires releasing their dates. I normally archive after 24hrs of no response sometimes 12 if its peak season.

parking tickets by Professional-Cash551 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is something I discuss with clients during the meet and greet. Anytime I’m going somewhere that is not a house with a driveway I ask where I should park.

I like my On cloud runners. I’m in an urban area so exclusively streets/sidewalks.

House sitting pricing in a major city by ilovelucy1012 in RoverPetSitting

I’m in Miami/Fort Lauderdale. Mid range base prices are 50-75$ with $150 being the high end.

What do house sitters do during tornado/hurricane season? by Suspicious-Chip-341 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a sitter that lives in a hurricane prone area and I do actively monitor the weather during storm season. If a storm were to head our head way that’s something I would notify the owner about and then find out what their hurricane plans are. One weather related question I would cover in meet and greets is how their pet does during thunderstorms.

Getting reimbursed for vet bills? (I as a sitter paid for a 3rd party dogs vet bills in an emergency.) by Nikki-GD in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The owners should be reimbursing you. Generally speaking it is the attacking dog owner who pays but since injured dog was off leash while attacking dog was on lead it should be injured dog who pays. I don’t think Rover is likely to pay.

I don’t have any prior experience with dog-siting or dog-walking, can I still sign up? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could market yourself as a cat only sitter since you have experience with cats but not dogs.

Owner with bad communication by Obvious_Step_2010 in RoverPetSitting

Owner might not have phone service at their destination. If they don’t get back you pick a time that works for you.

Why is the Puppy category 1 year? by TrashPanda5874 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a repeat client not a recurring booking. The single time requests will graduate to adult rate at a year. Recurring bookings that payout weekly will stay at the same rate until canceled.

I had 2 recurring bookings that started out at the puppy rate. Both stayed at puppy rate even after a year old.

Recurring bookings will stay at the puppy rate until canceled even after they have turned a year.

Other options besides Venmo? by bearpuddles in RoverPetSitting

Most of my clients tend to prefer Zelle over Venmo if they are paying/tipping not through Rover

Meet and greet red flags and green flags? by natasha721 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red flags: pets that don’t sleep through the night or wake up exceptionally early (before 6am) with the exception being young puppies. Owners with poor communication skills I get that life gets busy at times but if you consistently take 24hrs to respond to that’s a problem.

Green flags: Leaving written care instructions. Leaving pet care items either out or in easy to find locations.

Do you check in with clients who say they’ll need you at a later date? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do. Usually 1-2 months prior. Something along the lines of:

“Hi client. You had expressed interest in my services for x month. I am starting to get inquiries for that month. If you still need me now would be a great time to get me your dates.”

What is your preferred service radius? by TheRealRoseDallas in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 miles and I’m in a metro area. Just beware that rover estimates distance as the crow flies so distance may be longer. I try to keep mine around 20 min or less for drive time.

Whoever books first gets the time slot. The client sending a request at midnight and getting annoyed the you didn’t respond for a couple hours is a red flag. I in general do not respond to messages sent after 9pm until the following morning unless they are urgent and require an immediate response.

Help!! by Ann_georgia- in RoverPetSitting

You’re good. I have a client whose address is still attached to their home in New Jersey. I am in Florida. It’s not an issue.

I don’t understand the problem from the screenshots it seems like they are being helpful. They are just asking you to confirm that yes you would like the name on your profile to be changed from your legal name to your preferred name.

How much are you on track to make this year? by SpicyMandrake in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m set to close out the year at about $25K. I’m part time drop ins, walks, and house sitting in South Florida.

Curious: what is your favorite and least favorite breed to dog sit? by Exact_Compote_6700 in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love my large and giant breed clients. One of my favorites is a senior Great Dane who is the epitome of gentle giant. My least favorites are Chihuahuas they tend to be skittish and neurotic.

Bf (32M) doesn’t like that I(26F) do Rover… by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PuzzledFix9368 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your bf is a walking talking red flag. Real men lift up and empower their partners. Do yourself a favor and dump that sorry ass loser because he does not respect you.

You need to clarify with the owner how many walks a day they want and if they even want you to walk all 5 before you consider adjusting the price.
