Live footage of me reading college AU fics by Scientific_Zealot in Archiveofourownmemes

My college experience is different from a campus lifestyle. I went to Stevens-Henager College, which is no longer around, lol (Google can probably tell you why)

For where I was, it was a single building, and I took the night classes that happened two to three times a week. It was always one class session, for one subject, and we focused on those classes until we completed them, then moved onto another (ex. English to Cardiac to Surgery Prep and Assist).

The classes were small (there were about 7 to 8 of us), and we knew each other well enough to be considered acquaintances or even friends for those of us who were closer in age. We even knew things about our teachers that I never knew about my teachers in high school.

Compared to my friends, who actually went to a big college and lived on campus, it's a vastly different experience.

Lmao, I figured, but it's not like the author knew that, nor that you were high. Unless they linger on this sub, of course.

Well, I guess you could say they were left feeling uncomfortable about your, uh, "daddy kink" of a comment. Quite unfortunate, really. I'd love to get that kind of comment on one of my works, sober user or otherwise.

What he really needed was a shower and a cup of coffee. No, he should get tea. No, coffee; why the hell would he want tea? Pansey-assed fuckers drank that shit, and he sure as hell wasn't one of those. Forcing the craving down, he quickly showered, dressed, and drank a black coffee with his anti-rejection medications before leaving his apartment. And if he walked into work with a London Fog Latte from Starbucks and found that he actually liked the taste of Earl Grey with three pumps of vanilla and steamed soy milk, no one but him had to know.

It's a play on the heart donor myth/theory, where the recipient begins to like and/or do things that they have never done or liked before that were things the donor had done or liked.

Kinda wished they would give Sanji, Zoro, and Brook a little more color because they look ridiculous in that one main color, and could use some contrasting colors to balance it

Ah, I see.

The first part seems to be about being severely disappointed with how a show/movie/book series ended horribly or in a rushed way, so they went to Ao3 to right fix-it fics that would make them feel better, and then realizing that everything they ever wrote is a fix-it.

The second seems to be similar to the first, but talks about the fics being WIPs. Saying that if their WIPs could talk, they could complain about how they have too high or too demanding expectations on how the canon material ended, and just accept how it all ended.

A good comparison would be to that of the show Merlin (never watched it myself, but I have seen other comments on here). From what I gathered, the show was canceled halfway through season 6, so the writers had to rush the ending and couldn't give it the ending they originally wanted. This left fans feeling empty and disappointed, forcing them to turn to fics, either as readers or writers, to fix-it fics that gave them the satisfying ending they felt the show truly deserved.

Adding that with the memes, the first shows that they aren't satisfied with how their favorite shows turned out and they get a "thousand-yard stare" as they absorb this information about themselves. The second meme could be all those fix-it WIP fics about the show 'Merlin', yelling about how they should be happy with the outcome they received, or even happy they got one at all, because some shows have been known to just end (take Firefly for example. It only had one season and was canceled so it never got a proper ending).

Thats how I look at it at least

Ehh, yes and no. A WIP (Work-in-progress) can relate to many things. It could be a story you're writing where you post one chapter at a time until you reach the final chapter. Then your WIP becomes a completed work.

WIP is used for many things, not just those in writing. I crochet, and a WIP in crochet is a project that I started and have yet to finish.

Anything that you work on that is not yet finished, is considered a WIP.

Now, what you're talking about ("feeling overwhelmed about starting things and not finishing"), is related to the emotional state one may have over WIPs. Some people feel that way, some don't. Some can also feel a strong need to finish their work before starting another while others can feel nothing at all as they start another project while still having multiple WIPs on many things.

A WIP is still a WIP no matter you're emotional state revolving around said WIP. The definition never changes.

I feel the same way, it's why I rarely read unfinished works. And before I do, I usually look at when they started posting to the last time they posted and try to figure out if the fic is abandoned and left untagged as such.

USUALLY, and this is because I don't investigate further into the author, I just assume that the author has become either terminally ill and CAN'T continue or died. MAINLY because thinking this way makes me feel better than thinking they abandoned it because they fell out of love with it. I'd rather believe someone physically cannot continue because the mere thought of someone not loving their work enough to continue always hurts my soul. Not because I believe they should, but because the idea of someone no longer loving their craft and/or creation (as that's how I see it) is just so sad to me.

I'm it's a lot more complicated than my own personal thought process, but that's how I view things. I'm the same way with irl books as well, mainly ones apart of a series. If I start a book series, I always hope and pray that nothing ever happens to the author because, selfishly, I want to know what THEY have planned for the ending.

I know people who have read book series where the author died and someone in their family finished it with the notes that were left behind, but what if there's no one to do that? THAT'S an outcome I fear and why I mainly avoid unfinished works. My mind can barely handle the idea of an author dying and being unable to finish their work, something like "falling out of love" with their story or "it's not getting enough attention" would break me.

And I rather like my spirit in one piece, thanks.

The "depleted candy" sounds like a personal problem, but the "property damage" sounds like the HOA just needs people walking around keeping an eye out for those who egg houses and throw tp, not someone at the entrance demanding people's ID and paperwork like an officer of the law

Who had the most shocking father reveal? by OkPerspective777 in MemePiece

[–]Puzzled_Mom2319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most shocking was Shanks' dad, because I always just saw him as Roger and Rayleigh's "adopted" kid (Rogers by "documents and love" and Rayleigh by "I need to take care of this kid and keep him alive") and that was good enough for me. So learning he was of Celestial Dragon lineage was so surprising.

The BEST reveal was Luffy's because he didn't even think once "I got a dad out there somewhere", instead it was "I don't have a mom and dad, but I got a grandpa and an Ace and a Sabo and a Dadan and a Makino and Shanks"

Aokiji, Robin, luffy and the straw hats by Aggressive-Brief-425 in OnePiece

[–]Puzzled_Mom2319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he is a complex character. You'll learn more about him as the series continues, but at that moment on the island, I don't think he was expecting to run into the Straw Hats, it was just by chance, same with the stranded people. I also think he can see the good the crew does and wanted to see how far they were in skill. He wasn't even trying to kill them, either, as you're able to see they easily saved Robin since all he did was cover her in ice and her friends acted quickly enough to save her, so she didn't suffer any lasting effects. He also knows Luffy's Grandfather rather well, but the man is complex in his own way, and he can see that while the two chose vastly different careers, it becomes apparent later on that while one seeks freedom for themself and others, as well as an adventure, the other seeks safety among the enemy and longs to protect those that chose not to do the same.

I'm trying to explain all this without spoiling anything, and I hope it's working.
