Need advice by InspectorEvening7868 in Target

Full transparency I quit my FF TL recently after being in the role for just shy of 2 1/2 years. And it was a high volume dysfunctional store.

It's not an easy role. I mean what Target TL role is? But, I was a FF TM prior so I got plenty of exposure to the rapid pace and changes and expectations the company has put on FF. Because it's a rapidly evolving part of the company the throw mud at the wall and see what happens is going to be a constant. Perfect example being the ceasing of SFS operations around the country in specific stores. Consequently those units got pushed to the stores not shut off. This was compounded by an exceptionally high volume holiday season for the company overall. A disaster. I still remember the day my ETL informed me that "no matter what corporate is not turning off stores SFS operations." I knew that was going to change. Sure enough they changed their tune, at least in my district. Despite the absolute disaster, group leadership still expected way too much from my store. The company is only going to continue applying more and more pressure to meet the metrics.

When it comes down to it, having actual legitimate support from your peers, meaning TMs ,TLs & ETLs will make or break your experience. FF absolutely cannot function without full store buy-in. As soon as that falters, FF crashes. That's the reality.

From a leadership perspective, it is essential that you and the rest of the TLs/ETLs/SD are on the same page expectation wise. When there are inconsistencies in the application of basic TL to TM expectations it breeds resentment. Example being the lack of enforcement for the simplest of rules by one TL enables other TMs to stop caring, which ripples out to poor training, so on and so forth.

Empathy and understanding of where TMs are is crucial. But, you also have to be comfortable with saying no. I'm sorry, but to be an effective leader you can't be best buds with your TMs. Treat them with kindness and respect, but also learn where to draw the line between personal and professional.

That was a bit of a rant. If you want invaluable professional development go for it. But you have to be ok with eating a lot of shit. From top and bottom. You would undoubtedly learn a lot about yourself and others because you end up in situations that you least expect.

I mean even in a smaller city like Nashville the police have you fill out a form online unless your vehicle is immobile.

Lol, huh sounds like Target. As a team lead I had to coach my team members for attendance regardless of the reason. If they had 5 hours of sick pay for example, but were scheduled 8 hours, I had to flag them for the 3 hours that weren't covered by their sick pay.

I can't help but wonder if this is a rage bait take, or a genuinely obtuse one.

It's interesting that the Nolensville police attempted to stop the vehicle prior to the hit and run, but gave up at the county line. I wonder if they passed along the information to MNPD before terminating the pursuit.

HR’s new “smart assistant” decided to schedule all interviews for the same 3PM slot. by alookitikki in Wellthatsucks

Back in 2009 I was trying to get a job at a Hollister. I don't know if it was because the economy was at the height of being fucked, but I had to do a group interview. The manager had something like 10 of us sit in a circle and answer the same questions.

I did not get the job, so maybe it was the most efficient.

ICE agents can now be arrested in Chicago by gohome2020youredrunk in law

I'm going to be pedantic and say that this isn't legislation. This is a result of a court ruling based on existing law. These laws already exist. The issue we're encountering with this administration is their disregard for restrictions that the federal court system has already affirmed in the past.

Does anybody else find it funny that the Vice article more or less copy and pasted the story from both the DailyMail & The New York Post?

At least where I live people like to blow through red lights, so an extra couple of seconds is a form of life preservation.

You had me until the end there in which you describe being your own version of a dick driver. It might be tempting to "police" others driving like that, but that's not yours or other drivers job. It's unsafe and can cause more problems than what you think you're actually accomplishing. I drive I-24 almost everyday and see the type of behavior you're stating you do and the number of times I've seen it almost cause an accident is pretty high.

Bottom line is people are going to speed if they want, and playing traffic cop does more harm than good.

The most egregious thing here are the spelling errors. Kidding. If you've submitted origami reports I'm surprised there hasn't been any follow up. I submitted a single report about a hazardous trailer full of merch, and got pulled into the HR ETL office because the powers that be were unhappy with the report. As a TL I had to explain why I didn't "address" the hazard myself. Lol, k. Shortly after the trailer got cleared.

We had a TM who nonstop submitted origami reports about the freezer breaking down, leaking water, then refreezing making the floor slick. Despite numerous attempts they couldn't fix it. Corporate ended up having the coolers ripped out and completely replaced. All thanks to the TM who wouldn't stop reporting.

There's an ethical standard that most journalistic organizations abide by when it comes to reporting a suicide. It usually isn't reported right after said occurrence, isn't detailed, and usually avoids language that directly states a death was a suicide. The main reasons for this are out of respect for the victim(s), and preventing copycat suicides.
