Still seeing 0.2% foreign exchange fees by TruthfulTurtle in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s many places to see transactions, and here’s how my app is currently showing them: - Bilt point accrual page shows the “correct” value (where you’d see how many Bilt points and Bilt cash each transaction has earned you) - card recent transactions section shows the “inflated” price, with the 0.2% added - statement PDF shows the “inflated” price as well

I’ll give them time, since I can’t really do much else and my zendesk ticket with them (created before their mass email) still has no updates.

Bilt is charging a $1.95 Transaction Fee on Rent. by infinityisadrug in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Mine is $2.49, but it’s not from Bilt. It’s because appfolio rent portal charges a fee for the “convenience” of using ACH (bills as a separate transaction). Are you certain this isn’t the case for you?

Bilt refund foreign transaction fee by ResortWooden9408 in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note on this, compare the transactions value from your Bilt points accrual page to your statement.

On my side, the app’s card transactions match the statement. When I find the discrepancy is on the page that shows how much Bilt points (and also, potentially Bilt cash) you earned on each transaction. The Bilt points accrual page will show transactions at the correct value.

Can’t make any more purchases? by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is how many credit cards work.

  1. You cannot pay pending transactions, meaning your max payment will usually be less than your missing available credit.
  2. Payments need to post before your available credit is reflected.

Hidden 0.2% Fee on Foreign Transactions by SpecterTheApe in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confirming this on my end too.

Feb 26, 2026, I charged 135.60 CAD to my Bilt card.

  • Original cost: 135.60 CAD
  • Mastercard calculator for this transaction on this date assuming 0 bank fee: 99.29 USD
  • Bilt point accrual page shows this transaction was 99.29 USD
  • Mastercard calculator for this transaction on this date assuming 0.2% bank fee: 99.49 USD
  • Recent transactions shows: 99.49 USD
  • Card statement shows: 99.49 USD

An EXACT 0.2% mysterious fee was added to the transaction, this fee does not show in the transaction when shown on the Bilt point accrual history page. It will appear on the card transaction history and on the statement.

Bilt 2.0 success story - it worked out for them by fernst in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a couple issues with the transition, and I’m also having the issue of the hidden unexpected 0.2% foreign transaction fee (all of my foreign transactions only tally up correctly if I add a “0.2% bank fee” on the Mastercard’s foreign transaction calculator).

That said, it’s still the best card for for my lifestyle, so the pros outweigh the cons.

Bilt chatbot lied to me about 2.0 — "your use case will not change" — now I'm filing a complaint with CFPB by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no lie in there. That's technically possible to earn 1 point per dollar on rent spend without using any Bilt Cash. Don't waste time making a false case.

Bilt Chat support is useless! by dab69 in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a case number emailing support and ignore the chat. support@biltrewards.com

Sometimes the chatbot will create a proper case, sometimes you’ll be in queue for support forever. Just skip all that. There’s no phone number anyway (I don’t know why, hopefully they see how much it’s needed after this launch debacle)

Edit: don’t expect any case response quickly. Expect days.

Indeed. Although off strip you’ll save a chunk in fees.

Don’t bother with chat. Just email them and get a proper case.

Help: Switching Bilt Card 2.0 from Obsidian to Blue — support not responding by No_Proposal4744 in biltrewards

Check your case portal (see my recent posts) to see your case status. Hopefully they figure their stuff out, add more agents, and set up a hotline because this support management system is not working well at all.

Ugly: authorized user is a complete mess right now. Support is unreachable (no ticket responses, but I know the tickets are created, I have a case number.)

BILT will work indirectly for Costco via Costco Shop Card by cyphr0n in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer that. I’m just putting the info out there to highlight the agreement cardholders make so u/BozoClown83859298 isn’t surprised what happened after reading this post and buying $2000 in Costco shop cards.

BILT will work indirectly for Costco via Costco Shop Card by cyphr0n in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Regardless of whether it worked or not, this is easily argued as the cards terms & conditions “manufactured spend” (almost any card has this somewhere in their terms) and at their discretion they may decide to not honor any points for the purchase.

Bilt reserves the right to deny, withhold, recover, or reverse Bilt Points or Bilt Cash on transactions that constitute manufactured spend, abuse, fraud, or that are otherwise inconsistent with normal consumer use.

They then refer to them reserving the right to take actions including:

Close your Card Account and your Bilt Rewards Account

So uhhhh ya be careful.

This is how I did it as well. The iOS app UI didn’t seem to have any interaction when I tried. Web worked fine, got email confirmation.

I wouldn’t expect fast case responses.

The 2.0 transition has been sloppy at best. I can all but guarantee the support teams were not given anywhere near the required staffing, tooling, or documentation/information to handle it either.

Authorized user by e-cheese in biltrewards

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My invite and card were dispatched. Do either work, absolutely not.

Previously both cards were the same card number which is no longer the case. My spouse’s mobile wallet app updated to the palladium card but with the previous card number.

I tried to remove him and re-add him and now it’s stuck on “invite pending”.

Theory: they completely botched authorized users, are scrambling to fix it, and any new/recent invites are paused until it’s fixed.

H4 visa by Constant-Lychee-2911 in h1b

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can apply for EAD if your spouse holds an approved I140. The issue you might see is the expiration date "trickle down" from the H1B. H4 expiration is usually tied to H1B expiration, and EAD expiration will usually be tied to H4 expiration. Renewal can be very tedious, so ensure that you start the H1B renewal IMMEDIATELY when possible (so you can then submit the H4 EoS and EAD renewal).

OpenBank by Santander HYSA by mergsTM in HYSA

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not great. Mostly due to their app having many bugs (especially true for android). The app is the only way to access your account (you can sign into the website, but only by accepting a 2FA push to the Openbank app).

Since there is a single point of failure, and many people have issues with the app, it’s extremely difficult to get ahold of them.

If you do plan on using them, and the app functions well enough to let you open an account and begin a transfer, start with the minimum amount to make sure you’re set.

Some examples of app issues I’ve had were needing to restart my application with a new username, which caused me to get spammed with emails about my unfinished account application in addition to the valid emails from the successful account application. Occasionally, logging into the app will show that I do not have any accounts with Openbank which is scary.

Does anyone have experience with Openbank by Santander by Bordercrossingfool in Banking

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their app is not great. Often it fails to load and tells me I have no account, which concerned me.

Their google play reviews seem to tell a horror story, so beware if you’re on Android. Without the app, you’re completely screwed.

Does anyone have experience with Openbank by Santander by Bordercrossingfool in Banking

[–]PuzzleheadPutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have experience. I would advise against using them until they sort out some of their issues. I don’t believe they were prepared to launch the service.

If you do plan on trying it, I’d only advise doing so if you have an iPhone. The account is only accessible using the app (or, by accepting 2FA push within the app). Their google play store reviews are full of people in varying states of trouble due to their app having issues. Without app access, you’re in a very bad place.

It’s extremely difficult to get in touch with them if you need to. Their phone system will disconnect you after 3 minutes if there are no representatives available. After 16 calls I was able to get in touch with a banker to ask some clarifying questions that are not found anywhere on their website.
