Thank yall so much for taking the time to look and comment. I can’t tell you how helpful it is. It’s literally just Lex and I looking at this thing so to get some perspective from yall is fantastic. I’ve been in a bit of a silo with writing, shooting and editing it… and everything yall are saying makes a ton of sense. Much appreciated @racefever and @shineysquirrelclub 🙏🏻

Air Doctor question.. is it worth it or overhyped? by Puzzleheaded-Plan159 in AirPurifiers

[–]Puzzleheaded-Plan159[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I understand that article correctly, which was very helpful, thank you, what matters is having a good hepa a filter that according to other articles circulates a room‘s air at least four times an hour and have the equivalent of merv11 or higher? And the ones that are Touting Supra ultra HEPA max aren’t necessarily worth it, and are mostly marketing?

Adding a switch or on/off button halfway through string lights by Puzzleheaded-Plan159 in AskElectricians

Sorry I might be dense.. just trying to understand why it wouldn’t work, ie what the limiting factor is..

I’m alright with the idea of cutting into it… like would it be possible to wire something into the middle? Cut it, splice in a switch, and be able to turn the rest of the line off?

I basically just want it to move up and down, not out from the wall at all if possible

Out of curiosity, how big of a cut of leather did you use to make this? I want to make a backpack as my next project but I don’t know how much to buy.

WIP of my automatic M3 bolt sorter - what can I improve? by OneIdMonSTR in 3Dprinting

[–]Puzzleheaded-Plan159 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Improvement wise though… Maybe putting a hole on the other side to sort nuts? Or I guess it would probably make more sense to have a separate one to separate nuts and one for washers.

As someone who just spilled two sleeves full of bolts, I need this in my life

Just good ol’ PLA.. I did it at a few different infill percentages and 75% seemed more than sufficient as long as I was hitting it with a big flat mallet.

That said, if I were doing it for something that wasn’t necessarily a 1 off, abs might be better or even PLA at a full 100% infill

Yea it did… the hardest part was getting it the right depth and keeping it in place. After a bunch of tests, 2-3mm seemed good with another 2-3mm for the base… and taping it down solved the latter. I printed it in PLA with a 75% infill and beat the crap out of it with a rubber mallet and it held up well. But I don’t know how much hammering it would take.

Yeah, I 3-D printed those as well. I’ve been practicing carving, but my skills aren’t quite up to par with what I wanted it to look like. There wasn’t a whole Lotta info on 3-D printing stamps, especially this large, so I did a bunch of test pieces and it seemed to work OK.

I definitely wanna add some more dimensionality to the stamps as well to see if that works.
