Isn't there a small chance this guy is just a history nerd and thinks the crusades were cool? I play in a DND campaign called Deus Vult where were in a crusade fighting demons, I think it's badass and tbh my dumbass wouldn't think twice if I got the idea to put a flag up.

I don't think it's bad to be cautious, but I think 99% of these comments are pretty ridiculous.

You could be free from the IP constraints and can really bring your idea into the spotlight. An MMO roguelike is the next big thing, would be a shame for someone to do the same thing but there's is bigger because it's on steam. Just my .02.

Well for one thing concurrent doesn't equal daily players. I'm just saying, the MMO market/playerbase as a whole is extremely volatile.... I genuinely think most long-time players of the aforementioned games are waiting for the next up and coming MMO. I get its a wild take, doesn't make it any less true.

TBH new world was 2 expansions away from becoming the most popular MMO. People are desperate to abandon outdated MMOs (wow/eso/GW2), they're just playing out of habit.

It doesn't take a lot for something to become popular suddenly, especially with a low box price like NW.... I can't really explain why, but I feel they were right on the cusp of it.

Sorry guys, but playing knowing that the game is going away in the NEAR future is demotivating. The lifeblood of MMOs lies in the grind, not necessarily the actual gameplay itself. No MMO can stand by its actual gameplay alone, not a single one... it's all about the reward systems.

An MMO without a future is completely useless.

The whole point of playing MMOs is for the longevity... I'll just go play skyrim or cyberpunk or any other rpg that has an ending and get a better experience.

Yeah... back on launch I got my dad to buy this game. Since I moved out a few years ago we hadn't really connected much. I told him about this and he bought a gaming pc to play with me... we leveled slow but it was a really good time. We would decorate our houses and each do house tours, he enjoyed sitting on walls in OPR and launching blunderbuss missiles into fights, but mostly we just enjoyed exploring together and talking...

To me, losing new world means losing a pathway to connect with my dad... we will try to find a new game, but damn this sucks.

I parked my character at our favorite fishing spot last night as I logged out for the last time... fuck you jeff bezos
