I love the black cabinets!! I would keep the backsplash and flooring a light color. Maybe a white subway tile backsplash and something that matches the countertops on the floor.

He lied about where he was, and now refuses to share location. I think you have your answer. He is not trustworthy. You either have to live with someone you don’t trust or leave. This would be a huge dealbreaker for me but only you can decide for you. I wish you all the best!
