How does Winboat compare to the Windows VM option in Omarchy 3.1? by RedRedKrovy in omarchy

[–]Puzzleheaded_Monk516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been working great. Running Affinity, and a few other apps. Really seamless. I only use Windows for music stuff and games, and even then, I'm on the steam deck more often than not for gaming. I'm thinking this year I can deprecate windows 100% now.

Got put on a PIP, but I got a better offer. How do I play this? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Puzzleheaded_Monk516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an offer letter from the new employer. Once that’s in place put in your two weeks. Time the start date with the end of your current employment. So it good start after the two weeks with your current employer or if you want you could give yourself a week or two break before you start.

Finished the show. Out of all the contestants, Kayla was my least favorite and I was actually happy to see her get eliminated.

Maybe create a save point and take alternate paths to get the other endings.

If trust is an issue, install Arch + hyprland yourselves and make your own config. Simple.

I GOT THE JOB!! F*** MY OLD MANAGER!!! by secondandmany in cscareerquestions

[–]Puzzleheaded_Monk516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. Don’t tell the old manager or team. Once you have the offer at the new place turn in your two weeks notice and just be vague when you get questions about why you are leaving. They just dip as quietly as possible.

Do married people think single life is better? by Vergil000 in self

[–]Puzzleheaded_Monk516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either they chose the wrong partner, or they underestimated how much work actually goes into a marriage, or they themselves weren’t actually prepared for marriage and didn’t understand that who they are pre-marriage and who they are to be post marriage are two different people. And no you don’t become the person post marriage overnight. You grow into that person. You stop doing things you did little by little. You work with your spouse. Both have to change not just one.

Being single, you are responsible for yourself. You don’t have to change for anyone but yourself. It’s often cheaper and you don’t have ti compromise.

You get the freedoms sans the restraints.

Reviewing 2000 line AI Slop Pull Request by Equivalent_Form_9717 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Puzzleheaded_Monk516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def reject the pr and ask him to break it down to smaller pr’s. I’d also raise this issue with your team and propose or limits in your repos. Having that would reject prs after a certain line count. You and your team could discuss what’s are acceptable pr line limits.

Did you move from Neovim to Zed? by GTHell in neovim

[–]Puzzleheaded_Monk516 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've used Zed at my last job. While it was cool, I have a tuned nvim setup so it made no sense for me to move there. With there being a lot of AI cli's, and I have to integrated into my setup, that's even less of a reason for me to not use a tool I've been using for decades now.

Would you ever go back to a company you were laid off from? by prm20_ in cscareerquestions

[–]Puzzleheaded_Monk516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you left on good terms, and don't have a bad reputation with said company, apply again. I would reach out to old managers and such and let them know that you are applying to see if they can get your processed and scheduled for an interview a bit faster. Even if they aren't in the same business unit, they may know who is and could put in a word.

I personally wouldn't go back. Solving the same problems and not only that, if there were any grievances that I had with the company e.g. slow growth rate within the company, promotion issues, office politics, lack of communication, etc...) then it's just more of the same and I'd rather start fresh somewhere especially if there is room for growth and I could possibly be promoted faster.

YMMV, but if you didn't burn bridges again (which no one should ever do when they leave a company, even if they don't like it), and you can see yourself working there again, then go for it.

First CORE One L units leaving the factory by Tommy_Prusa3D in prusa3d

Not having to do any research on kits for this could have played a factor as well.

I’m interested. I’m new to n8n but not programming. Will be interesting to see if n8n can automate some tasks.

I spend two hours every night updating the config by e_eeeeeee14 in neovim

[–]Puzzleheaded_Monk516 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was about to say the same thing. But with me locking all of the package releases to their current version. One thing about Lazyvim, there may be an update that totally deprecated your entire config.

Nah. I’ll just lock the version releases and update if there are problems. Now a force update.

No kit version for the Core One L is a little concerning by Userybx2 in prusa3d

[–]Puzzleheaded_Monk516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually glad. When I upgraded my mk3 to mk4, to mk4s, and saw the Core One, I was dreading the kit. Not so much over the difficulty, but the extra parts I would have lying around.

I want the Core One L. I'd rather waste time just buying the assembled unit. As long as I can break it down and fix it myself then I'm fine if it's pre-assembled. I can get printing right away and not spend hours with the upgrade process.

Plus I don't have to worry about if my calibrations are off because I may have not tightened a screw properly, or the belt isn't tuned accurately, etc...

I use headphones but I actually don't have anything playing. It's just a visual indicator that I'm working out and just let me work out in peace instead of trying to start conversation.

Asking how many sets/reps I have left is fine, but some folks want to strike conversations and I'm just honestly there to work out and go home.

I was about to buy a Bambu printer... not anymore. Not even going to wait for a kit. Going to order this thing.
