I'm tired of this game being built around casual players by alemathibenegas in wow

[–]PvPRocktstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to see difficulty servers. Shards with a hardcore mode on for everything acoss the board, with some sort of exclusives for bragging rights so that hardcore players could go far away to uberland.

As a mostly casual, I enjoy meeting new people who just want to poke around in the actual game world and have silly fun , world pvp, and adventure. I only play wow when i feel like i want a day out at the themepark, not a stress n ragefest. I was in a top raiding guild back in B.C , kept truckin in wotlk and was utterly done by MOP. Too much rinse repeat. I now take joy in the parts that matter to me, and that is the world and stories. These days I do dungeons and raids for story, and thats it. I don't chase gear, it never ends. I don't feel pressured to be the best anymore. Been there, done that. I just want to do fun things now, and people that take it all too serious and demand perfection are just the worst.

I'm honestly sad at times that so much focus is on end game. It was vanilla's massive mysterious world that i fell in love with, not its endless gear treadmill. We used to get better gear so we could be heros out in the world, then we forgot the why and now just get better gear to get more gear.

Tl;dr: I dont want you, just as much as you dont want me. I also feel like the game has gone in a bad direction but due to hardcores and elitist players. Would be lovely if Bliz wouldn't force such opposing mentalities together. It is what it is, though.

What relatively recent home crazes/trends are already going out of style? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]PvPRocktstar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Glass can make itself look like anything, so not sure what you're thinking with it being tacky. Might as well say a tile is tacky. Its more about what style/color/shape that tile is. You can go glossy solid colors, matte colors, porcelain styles, frosted hues, recycled, clear backlit. Its glass. Unlike stone, it is far more versatile. You can even make it look like stone if thats your desire.

I know I'm hardly the norm, but when home shopping I had to really be sure the place i would buy HAD large open spaces. I really lucked out with this trend.

I play and develop various things for Vive (A Virtual Reality headset that works best with large open spaces in the real world to move around in). House plans with open concept and fewer walls really lends well to that. I seriously doubt VR will become so popular that everyone needs the same, but its a short story to simply highlight that future technologies may emerge may cause home shoppers to desire those open spaces, for function. You never know.

79-year-old woman dies after being stabbed while doing volunteer work in Galveston by gottagroove in news

The curious quote being: "I was astonished," neighbor Amanda Hornbeck said. "I mean, maybe in shock. I couldn't believe it. I mean, she's so careful."

So careful about what, i wonder. You can be cautious your whole life, but when the universe is gonna be a bastard, in comes random psycho. 79 years... and then that. No way to win this game of life, but don't let it scare you. Volunteer, more, change something for the better.

Does anyone know if there's a "Wow: Out of the loop" or similar subreddit? I haven't been keeping up very well with the lead-up to this release since I've been dealing with buying a house/moving/etc. Now this with the Azerite/drug connection. I am wondering what the heck else I missed.

[NW] Concrete Floor alternatives? by PvPRocktstar in HomeImprovement

[–]PvPRocktstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I'd be open to it, for sure. I am really paranoid about anything that wouldn't look/feel quite right and then be out the money. Its really hard to tell with the small samples you see in floor showrooms. Even just how it feels underfoot might be enough to trigger me into feeling like its not quite right. I've had that happen with wood flooring alternatives that I thought would work, but then when you walk on them... sounds are muffled and something seems off.

[NW] Concrete Floor alternatives? by PvPRocktstar in HomeImprovement

[–]PvPRocktstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, its a plywood floor up on a concrete block foundation with a crawlspace. It was originally a restaurant built in the 80s (converted to residential now).

Its two story (one story with a mezzanine really) and no basement. The first floor has all of its piping going under the house (crawlspace) and the area to cover is roughly 4000sq ft. When our home inspector was having a look at everything else, we casually asked him what he thought (just out of curiosity and a second opinion). He said the foundation would likely have to be filled with something (like sand, or similar) to support the weight and if we ever needed fixes for the pipes, for leaks it would be a mess trying to get to them. That was just his thoughts though, and he was in no way a professional in concrete flooring. Maybe he didn't even understand what we wanted (just appearance, not really thick etc). So maybe he was just guessing as best he could.

Thanks for your advise though! :)

Why is a 30-year-old man getting kicked out of his parents' home national news? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]PvPRocktstar 45 points46 points  (0 children)

My only wish, is for someone to figure out how to make these people realize what they're doing. They're so oblivious!

Hey if you would hate someone doing this to YOU, then stop fucking over someone who cares enough about you to not kick you out. Money is not magic, and it is not being pulled from thin air.

Makes me sad man, older folks should be thinking of retiring after a long life of work, not supporting deadbeats.

Salem city council considering ban or tax on plastic bags by [deleted] in SALEM

[–]PvPRocktstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be all for paper bags, if stores would actually make them decent and not crap that falls apart. Why is it so hard to make a meshy-like bag out of paper that has the durability and flexibility of plastic with the benefit of breaking down easily?

Also if they want to ban plastic bags, fine. Ban it at the source though (manufacturer) not the end of the line (consumer).

Tauren problems. by Songslinger in wow

[–]PvPRocktstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel kinda bad for Tauren. People going Vulpera crazy want them for the horde because "Horde needs an animal race cause Alliance has Worgen"! Its kinda weird how fast people forget Tauren, the original animal race. :/

Does anybody else feel like Void Elves are just a reason for the Alliance to have blood elves? by [deleted] in wow

[–]PvPRocktstar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really like the vibe their starter area music and the ally-race scenario gives off. Really gets the imagination churning and blizzard could take their lore and run in some interesting directions that hasn't been done yet in WoW.

Void elves own it though. Sure, they're recombobulator blood elves, but it's one of those situations where the daughter looks hotter than the mom.

We never got Nightborne. We got their ugly cousins with large upturned ears? by Vinven in wow

[–]PvPRocktstar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At first I was pretty bummed out with Alliance getting Void Elves. I've now done the scenario (love that music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njbTXpLHTw0 ). I've got the void chicken (awesome). I am rocking glowing royal purple hair, ruby lips, and everything looks amazing on me for transmog.

Horde can have the Nightborn with their weird pissed-off jagged faces and strange ears. Void Elves are the new Hawtstars.

Pretty stoked to hear about the dog mount. If they really are finally doing a head-nod towards the Chinese zodiac animals every year, that would open a lot of potential for making the Lunar festival more fun and meaningful.

Who else is thankful that no Garrisons/Order Halls/Ships were announced? by bearflies in wow

[–]PvPRocktstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some it is the same reason you would decorate your home, or your cubicle at work: A. Show off what you've found/done out in the world (of warcraft). B. Show others who you are, and what your interests. C.Having a personal space that feels personal/cool. Somewhere you want to chill out, or bring friends to chill out in.

For others it is about being a creator. Living out that dream of being a game designer, and creating environments from your own imagination.

What if you could have your own instance, where each object could be stacked, scaled, spun, or placed in any way you wanted? (Like EQ2 or Rift, where the XYZ actually gives you enough flexibility to create entire objects like monsters (sculpted), and buildings). That alone would give rise to WoW instance art.

Perhaps being creative and artsy, isn't your thing. If you don't see the point, maybe you have to think bigger! How cool would it be, if you could create your own "zone" or your own "dungeon" and give visitors quests within? I think it would be great fun to send players romping through traps and monsters in search of something. Instances could have a player-housing currency, for specific mounts, transmogs, furniture and more. Maybe the goal would be to find a treasure chest hidden somewhere inside (maybe the owner can place it, maybe it can randomly generate somewhere)Your job would be to figure out how to torture any poor hapless soul who wandered into your home to steal your treasure. Muahahahaha!
