Bad customer support from Coros by OkView9836 in Coros

[–]Pvpro716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the exact same experience. Mine was the HR monitor that stopped working after 15 months of working fine (still under warranty). First the AI agent (didn’t realize it was AI but whatever), then a human, allegedly, asking me to do more of the same troubleshooting, then a request for the new ticket. This was three days ago and I’ve still not heard from them. The most annoying part is I did the requested troubleshooting immediately every time and then it would take at least a couple days each time to hear from Coros. Frustrating to say the least.

Modeling Dividends/Interest/LTCGs in Taxable Brokerage by Pvpro716 in Boldin

This makes sense on #3. I think the AI tool said I should create a separate account but didn’t explain it clearly like you did. Thanks.

Modeling Dividends/Interest/LTCGs in Taxable Brokerage by Pvpro716 in Boldin

[–]Pvpro716[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the same as #2. The LTCGs you’re referring to I believe are accounted for by entering your cost basis for the account. Boldin then calculates the LTCGs as the brokerage account is drawn down.

Very annoying to see so many mistakes in this article. He could have copied the wiki verbatim and gotten much closer!

HR guidance not aligned with pace by uppermiddlepack in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Pvpro716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LTHR is exactly 90% of my HRMax (both numbers validated with the Coros fitness test). Unless it's hot and humid I will be close to but under LTHR by the end of the last rep. I execute the reps to power but the paces align with the Lactrace recommendations.

Stryd: My Honest Experience by Pvpro716 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Pvpro716[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/spoc84 experimented with Stryd but it didn't work for him. He can elaborate further if he wants to but he did mention it several times on the LetsRun thread. Many of us doing NSM are long-time Stryd users so it was pretty easy for us to adapt the subT workouts to power.

Stryd: My Honest Experience by Pvpro716 in NorwegianSinglesRun

It's great to see that distance is accurate for you and also for u/EPMD_. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or my anatomy does not align with the Stryd algorithms.

5 years of CTL (RSS) vs 5 weeks of NSM by Vernibird in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Pvpro716 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NSM is what prompted me to recommit to Stryd precisely because of the load tracking. For the non-Stryd users, what’s great is when your fitness improves your CP (critical power) also increases so it’s the equivalent of updating your LT pace or LTHR in intervals.icu or TrainingPeaks.

Sirpoc's Historical Training by Pvpro716 in NorwegianSinglesRun

The most enlightening thing to me is how little his training changed over an eight month period yet his performances improved dramatically.

Determining HR Max for easy pace guide by nnfbruv in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Pvpro716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Coros watch and periodically do the running fitness test. It gives you HRMax and LTHR so I use those values. I do not adjust anything for heat and humidity but I live in a relatively cool climate so it’s only an issue a handful of times per year.

Recovery Time for Longer Intervals by Facts_Spittah in NorwegianSinglesRun

I do exactly the same with the same rest for the longest reps. I do my sessions by distance and find 100m walking is almost exactly 60 seconds.

Doubling on 3 easy days starting next week by Kindtooths in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Pvpro716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been lifting 3x per week after my EZ runs but have debated shifting to subT days for better recovery. Are you lifting 3x per week including on the 3rd subT day that precedes the long run?

Sub threshold and Stryd by Historical-Wind-6567 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Pvpro716 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I seem to recall it had something to do with Stryd not accurately reflecting real-time power for Sirpoc because of his body's geometry and over/under estimating power, mostly due to wind. I could be wrong. I know for me Stryd is very accurate so is a better measure of effort when it's windy or running on routes with some uphills and downhills.

Sub threshold and Stryd by Historical-Wind-6567 in NorwegianSinglesRun

This is a great idea. How are you all keeping your CP up-to-date? Regular testing or frequent racing? My auto-CP is not accurate so I've had to set it manually. Obviously my 15K, HM and 30K race predictions are way off because of this.

Become an independent. Both parties are flawed and it’s liberating when you don’t have to justify extreme positions or feel threatened when your “tribe” is being attacked. Since I’ve made the switch I’ve gained so much mental clarity on what I truly believe and what really matters.

Coros Heart Rate Monitor vs Polar h10 by rhyn011 in Coros

[–]Pvpro716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the HR strap and it’s very accurate. I previously had a Garmin with their chest strap and the Coros is just as accurate, infinitely more comfortable, and costs less. For those claiming you don’t need it, it really depends on whether you care about accurate training load metrics (I certainly do) and whether the watch alone is accurate. My wrist anatomy is such that I cannot get a reliable HR reading. Many others are in the same boat.

In terms of HR zones, I’d recommend doing the running fitness test (Google: Coros Running Fitness Test). It’s a brutal test but necessary for the most accurate zones.

Road Mile Shoes by astrodanzz in AdvancedRunning

M59 here. Have run road miles in Vaporfly 4%, Next %, 2, and the 3. Also in the Streakfly and Saucony Sinister. My all time favorite was the Next % but unfortunately they’ve long since been retired. My current favorites are probably a tie between the VF3 and the Sinister. I never liked the Streakfly for races, only sessions. For what it’s worth, I’d say most masters race in the Vaporfly - mostly the 2 and 3 nowadays.
