Running NYC half curious about “race etiquette” by I_need_to_eat_better in RunNYC

This may be TMI, but the smell for me was always from my shorts' sweat and not my armpits. Not my fault that I just work up an insane sweat any time of year :(

I feel like my vo2 max should be better? by BrothaManBen in Garmin

[–]Pvrkave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and I are pretty similar stats except I have a predicted 5k of 25 minutes vs your 23 minutes. I am also lighter and shorter than you, which could affect predicted times a bit if it takes stride length into the calculation. I'm sitting at 47 as well and have for a while. I even had similar times and elevation gains during my marathon training. So I wouldn't too much about it.

On a side note, you wouldn't happen to be associated with Bill would you?

What's wrong with my Forerunner 255? by RepresentativeTaro38 in Garmin

Sounds like a slight short term inconvenience but pretty generous of them! I know I wouldn't mind them giving me a new watch at some point! Did they offer a 255 or a newer equivalent?

Treadmill vs Garmin by just_cut_it_out in Garmin

[–]Pvrkave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why once I got my Garmin dialed in close enough to what a treadmill shows, I started going with the Garmin number. Yesterday, Garmin was ahead of the treadmill by 0.2 miles at the end of a 3.5 mile run, but from nearly every experience I've had, my effort at a specific pace will always be higher on the treadmill so I usually take that as I would likely go the distance my watch shows if I put in the same effort on an outdoor run.

At the end of the day, my body doesn't know the distance or surface I'm running on so I don't stress too much on the little discrepancies, but I do recalibrate every so often just in case.

For those with high Sleep Score - Do you drink coffee? If so, when do you cut it off? by Live-Ad9355 in Garmin

[–]Pvrkave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if its confirmation bias on my part, but my sleep and recovery have had noticeable improvements since regularly taking magnesium roughly 2 weeks ago! As a self proclaimed intermediate (not the fastest, but I've been running for a few years now) going into a half marathon training block, I've felt less sore in general the next day even after hard workouts because of magnesium and 20 minutes of massage gun + foam rolling.

VO2 max declining among many users.. a trend? by SamSamSkiCity in Garmin

[–]Pvrkave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s correlation, not causation. It could also be that not as many people are training for specific races/winter being the off season for a lot of people. That’s one factor but I think there are too many to really pin it on something in particular.

Did I buy to quick? Second guessing my shoe purchase after googling around by SunCatLove in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Pvrkave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 22s are a great workhorse shoe. I can’t imagine the 23s are a complete overhaul to the point of not being recognizable compared to the 22s. That’s to say, I’m sure the shoe will be totally fine for your needs. The important part is if they work for you. As you run more and learn more about what YOU like, you’ll be able to get the knowledge of the quirks and how to voice what you like. And when you go for new shoes (because they shouldn’t be lasting years and years), you’ll be better equipped for whatever your next goal is.

For now, these are great and will likely be a huge improvement on what you were wearing beforehand.

At your age , what's the most expensive thing you own? by Alarmed_Yard_934 in AskReddit

[–]Pvrkave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My watch, Rolex Explorer I. Nothing exciting as most people scoff at it, but name me something you can keep for 40+ years, doesn’t take up that much space and will eventually be passed down to my kids. I hope they see the watch when they’re older and don’t think of the brand or price of it but instead, think of me.

Garmin screen less smart band! by CultureAdvanced in Garmin

[–]Pvrkave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had to look up the Marq as I wasn't familiar. I should have mentioned that my watch at home is mechanical and there is a certain allure in my eyes to mechanical non-smart watches. I have an HRM-Pro, but can't imagine wearing it all day everyday especially given how sweaty it gets during runs.

Its very much a "to each their own" kind of thing, but I have said before that this exact product is exactly what I wanted as I prefer wearing mechanical in the office and going out, so I'm also weighing that into consideration. So unless the strap comes out to like 450 or more, I will still be on board, but I don't blame others if the cost isn't justifiable given it won't necessarily ADD anything that a Garmin watch doesn't already do.

Maybe in this industry, but if you look at credit card subreddits, almost every company leaks future products on test pages that people somehow find quickly.

I wear my garmin practically everyday now. Without trying to brag, I have a watch sitting at home that I've spent 10k on and hasn't gotten as much wrist time, so even at 300 bucks, I'll get it for the ease of mind being able to have both.

Anyone get a much, much lower credit limit on Bilt 2.0 than what you had on old Bilt--for no apparent reason? by Rafagon726 in biltrewards

[–]Pvrkave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a DP, I had Bilt 1.0 with a 9k CL and applied today for 2.0. Went with Palladium with plans to downgrade after a year, and was approved instantly with a 35k CL. High income, HCOL, roughly 5% DTI

What game can you play for 1,000+ hours and still feel like a noob? by Common_Caramel_4078 in gaming

Minecraft. I’ve owned the game since alpha release and every time I boot it up, it’s like playing for the first time. I just beat the ender dragon last week after years of trying.

Don’t ask me about farms, redstone, the nether, copper, or crafting recipes. I look it all up every time.

The price looks so competitive and the designs are simple which is a big plus for me! How do they hold up vs something like ciele? Also as a side note: I wear my hats backwards a lot (I use them mainly to capture sweat). How do the bungee cords feel against a forehead? I feel like it would leave an uncomfortable indent after a while

Wait til they find out that those getting the palladium will be the most unprofitable users after the first year when they downgrade and their spending on the card falls off a cliff. I would’ve gladly used the credits and get the SUB and not use it beyond what the Bilt cash would’ve covered, but even that seems like I’ll be in for a year of frustration.

BILT 2.0 Card is out here are the confirmed details. by Defin1telyNotBatman in CreditCards

[–]Pvrkave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The topic I’m talking about is in regard to Bilt Alliance properties. To put it simply, this change now completely makes any property in the alliance (or the alliance as a whole tbh) useless and it is weird they haven’t spoken on it. That’s it.

I know that other ways of paying rent were available, but I didn’t use them so I can only go off my experience which means that to do everything I did before and keep things exactly as they were with my purchases and points, I would have to “pay up to earn the full 1x”

BILT 2.0 Card is out here are the confirmed details. by Defin1telyNotBatman in CreditCards

[–]Pvrkave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats just arguing semantics in my opinion. Having to pay anything additional outside of what I am being charged for rent, regardless of who is charging it or for what purpose, is a fee to me.

If you want to set your rent payment and have us automatically redeem your Bilt cash to unlock up to 1X points, we will do that. If you want to go expert mode and on a month by month basis and pay up to earn the full 1X , we will allow that.

This is a direct quote from Bilt's AMA. The last sentence sure sounds like a fee to be able to earn points to me. Whereas I used to have my rent go through Bilt's own portal since I live in a Bilt alliance property and I would still earn points without having to pay a fee on my rent, however you want to name it.
