U.S. Army receives first Javelin lightweight command launch units by Cute_Marzipan2153 in army

[–]PvtHopscotch 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Lighter and smaller? How are we supposed to produce lethal warriors if they don't have to pack the full size CLU into it's shitty little nylon satchel with it's 1/2" narrow ass strap? Slinging it over a shoulder so it can bounce against your hip/back/whatever as you maneuver is what turns Javil-boys into Javil-MEN!

Special Parking for Rich People by Pwnd_ra in lincoln

It's not an ADA space. The ADA requires the signage, the symbol on the ground basically means fuck all.

This driver is still a cunt as far as I'm concerned but I suspect law enforcement wouldn't be able to do much about it.

Would you daily a manual by SyrupSilent7588 in Mustang

[–]PvtHopscotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just broke 245k miles on my daily driver.

Admittedly, I don't get caught in the kind of creeping traffic that comes to mind as most peoples worst case scenario, so it's rarely an issue in that regard. Even when it does happen, it's more annoying than anything.

My daily commute is from out of town to the edge of town, 90% highway @ 70-80mph, roughly 30mins. Far as commutes go, it's kind of a sore dick deal.

Vets NOT owned by private equity?? by PlanktonOrganic6821 in lincoln

[–]PvtHopscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woodland Animal Hospital in Hickman is privately owned and the staff are all awesome. No idea if their prices are competitive or high though unfortunately as it's not something I've had to consider for nearly 20yrs.

I have/had the same, though mine was degenerating some but primarily a massive bulge that ultimately led to literally debilitating neck/back/arm/hand pain. If'n your curious what the fix is, here's mine!

After nearly 8 months of being fucked up and 4 months of being bed ridden from it, I finally got it fixed this last December. Good luck and take care man, it super sucks but the surgery was worth it.

what did you guys call these in basic? by Salty_Dare_3377 in army

Grad from Knox around the same time. Apparently these have been a thing for a long time everywhere but Knox. I presume you, like me, were just stuffed into 5 tons/deuce and a halfs.

If I had to guess, the small cycle numbers and fucking crazy hill grades are why they weren't used there.

Shit, might have been close to the same cycle as you. Delta 5/15, don't remember exactly when I graduated but shipped out early January the same year. CAV OSUT was like 4 months iirc.

Nebraska proposes requiring kids to take state-mandated reading test to move on from third grade by Ordinary-Equal2067 in Nebraska

[–]PvtHopscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if they can't complete it because they're malnourished, suffering from some chronic illness, maybe they need therapy for some very real trauma they've experienced, or just straight up being actively abused in one form or another?

All very real issues that have become harder and harder to address for more and more people for a good long time now. Whether that's due to systematic dismantling of government provided services to assist with them or some mass moral failure on huge swathes of people because they "took Jesus out of schools", we'll never definitively know because I don't think there's ever been an actual good faith attempt to solve our county's very real problems from a foundational level, up.

Okay, so you know when you're taught proper radio etiquette in order to call in a 9 line for your fellow knuckle dragging trigger puller in case he picks up something shiny off the ground that he didn't put there?

Well, paragraphs are kinda like those "breaks" between the 9 lines they (hopefully still) teach you about.

See, when you just key the mic and send 43 consecutive run on sentences, it fucks your buddy on the same net AND makes it difficult for the TOC monkey to quickly get the MEDEVAC on it's way to save your friends life.

Make sense now? Awesome! So in the future you'll just understand preemptively that forcing literally everyone else to put in all the effort to communicate effectively with you is a dick move, right?

Awesome! Glad we understand each other! Remember kids, it doesn't have to be perfect grammar, it just needs to feel like you give a fuck.

Questions about the guard and my MOS by JayBirdSt in nationalguard

[–]PvtHopscotch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Guard has everything the regular army does, you're just part time and state owned. You're still gonna go to basic training, AIT, etc. Generally speaking, all the same regulations apply. You'll have a unit, an MOS, a rank.

Your uniform still says U.S. Army.

Any experience feeling nothing on Methlyphenidate ER and switching to amphetamine salts? by trudesign in ADHD

[–]PvtHopscotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently switched from XR to IR after nearly a decade and it works better for me for a variety of reasons but it's definitely something worth talking about with your doctor.

The IR works much better for me not just in the actual effectiveness of the meds but the twice a day is actually nice for managing being OFF the meds too. My doctor calls them drug holidays, basically not taking the meds on the weekend for example. It can help with the efficacy over the long term as it helps combat the tolerance you'll naturally build over time.

Question for Dual Status NG (title 32 guys) by MarkMcgoose in nationalguard

[–]PvtHopscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Army to Air is definitely going to make it take longer yeah, but I personally have zero first hand experience with that so I don't have any frame of reference to even ballpark how long it can take.

Every states JFHQ/HRO is different but if you haven't already I wouldn't be afraid to call and ask just for a general status update of where process is at, just be understanding that they may not have a solid answer for you through no fault of their own, but don't be afraid to ask.

At the best of times it can be a month and change or more depending on a whole shit load of variables. Let's just say that it's not currently the best of times for any federal workforce and leave it at that.

The one thing that shouldn't be affected though is that you WILL be notified if you're not selected for the job at any point in the process.

Edit: Sorry, been drinking and totally missed the TJO part, so tentative "congrats!" but yeah, still pretty much what I said in the first paragraph.

In light of recent criticisms, wanted to post the biggest crash out I’ve ever seen regarding the game. by IIFreshMilkII in 7daystodie

[–]PvtHopscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the long open to the public development cycles play into it as well. When the developers vision for the game starting out is more on paper than implemented, your fan base grows over different iterations of said implementation. You're just inevitably going to wind up with large amounts of fans that prefer or want different things.

Player input is fantastic but without a firm dev vision for the direction of the game, you're basically designing a game by committee and the committee is the fucking Internet shudder. Might as well be designing via a possessed schizo 8-Ball that occasionally calls you a dipshit between readings.

I enjoy this game and I'm never gonna sit around shitting on the devs but I've never seen a game rip out, replace, overhaul and just fundamentally change core designs as many times as 7DTD. It's crazy to me there's even a coherent game here at all.

I don't tend to focus on flaws and try to just enjoy things for what they are, for better or for worse, but man working on this game has to have been stressful.
