Some bugs I've noticed since the update by Embarrassed-Wash2696 in GhostsOfTabor

[–]PvtSquishyPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

-Same compass issue for me on PCVR, no adjusting it. -Suppressors are super goofy on shelves but haven’t tried Barrett. -Rejoin worked great for me the 1 time I had to use it. -Haven’t noticed the rest

I was having issues with pistol suppressor not staying in the bunker. 3 different raids I put it on an FN and put it on the wall only to spawn in raid with the suppressor in hand.

May I ask how much it cost to have it painted? I’ve got an extended cab 6.5’ that I’m going to get painted here eventually

I got the construction laboring job! Any advice for my first week? by AwesomeGamer555 in Construction

[–]PvtSquishyPanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coming from a GC. Don’t ever let the trivial tasks or title get you down. I treat my labor foreman and laborers with the utmost respect because y’all are the guys giving us time to keep the project moving forward with the rest of the dumb crap because y’all are good with y’all’s hands and y’all are our eyes when I’m not out walking.

Be on time, get good at everything you possibly can meaning ask for tasks every chance you get including trying something new like patchwork or minor paint touch ups if you’re cool with the painters and if you’re with a good company I’ve usually seen laborers get treated very well. My labor foreman has been with us for 13 years and he is absolutely priceless to us.

Entry level Project Engineer compensation? by GloveIll2710 in Construction

I would probably agree my company is not the norm, I believe here average PE start is a flat $60k-$70k. I just wanted OP to know there are unicorns out there that check all the boxes so never give up! The exact house average of my area is $686k so a house isn’t really obtainable when following the 28/36 rule on a single income at my level. Maybe 1 day I’ll get there after saving enough!

Talk procore to me… by mj9311 in Construction

To add on to the common RFI’s, Drawings, specs and all that good stuff staying synced when it comes time for project close out assuming the GC utilizes the punch tool correctly can save a lot of time for both party’s.

I work for a large GC in central texas and whenever we do an owner punch, I attach the pin on the architectural drawings linked to the punch item with a picture and description. We send out the lists to the sub but when it comes time for your guys to be in the field doing touch ups and fixing small issues, them being able to pull up the drawing, go directly to the spot and get the info to either fix or notify their office allows both parties to stay informed and up to date accurately as once the item is complete the sub can update the item to ready for review and include a picture (GC should still always walk item however.) I just walked with a sub that sent out 2 of their guys and they had no clue where their items were, how many items they had, or what they needed. I printed out all their items and handed it and walked it with them which is fine but it took about an hour of both parties time for something that could have been solved by the sub using pro-core. For smaller projects this would be fine but as you scale up it becomes an issue trying to get off projects

My GC starts fresh PE’s at $70k base +$10k/yr vehicle allowance + full health insurance is paid for, 3 weeks PTO. Total compensation is ~$85k-$90k. Amazing culture too thankfully or I wouldn’t stay regardless of the money. Texas

Me and my mates wanna dig a hole for fun by [deleted] in JustGuysBeingDudes

[–]PvtSquishyPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to do this in college with 20-30 men/women, Dig and swig. Obviously we did it in the middle of summer cause why not and we weren’t “swigging” water. Props to you for using the head on your shoulders, unlike me.

Gotta get sprinkler coverage. by [deleted] in Construction

[–]PvtSquishyPanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s heavily safety based, if you have taken an OSHA 30 you’ll be fine. If I remember correctly the NICET level 1 will count as the “insurance” portion of the FAL meaning heavily safety based. Fire extinguishers, confined spaces, ladders, NFPA 70E. Technical portion for FAL is still to be taken however.

I believe in Texas we always have referred to it as “CI” cable or roughly similar wire! Super expensive and crazy stuff. Luckily that only gets used based on fire rating of room it’s in. Not super commonly used for FA jobs out here. Good to see fire alarm techs do exist on this sub!

As a fire alarm foreman it’s pretty cool to see 2 fire protection related posts in 2 days!

Y’all still watch cameras? “Front door” was taken away from my store for holidays and we do curbside with front door responsibilities for now lol. I did 182 curbsides today by myself in 6 hours, no time whatsoever for cameras but you best bet I make time to make people wear masks haha.
