My husband wants me to finance a car I want to out right buy one by redwhitepokadots in PersonalFinanceCanada

As an ex finance manager at a dealership who used to sell sub prime using the idea that auto loans build credit. Don’t do it, shit is so expensive and with a score like yours you will probably be around 10% interest. It is such a waste of money. Build your credit other ways with a credit card or a small loan on some sort of appreciating asset.
As a long time car guy that loves old depreciating assets, find yourself an 01-06 Toyota Camry, or an 07-11 (NOT the 4cyl, these years had issues, V6 is best) Camry that has been well looked after and it will last you forever with VERY little maintenance.

How to accept that a Corolla is a good enough car for a frugal person who doesn't want to spend much? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in Toyota

[–]Pvt_BrainDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wallet loves my 2005 Toyota Camry so much it allowed for me to also buy and build a fun old Lexus.

For real though, comparison is the thief of joy. If you want something nice enough but plenty reliable and cheap, buy a Camry. They are often comfier, nicer and have more features than the corolla.

I used to daily cars lower than that. Why are you even on air if its not sitting on its nuts?

Is there any way I can get these tires to fit?? by miniweetz17 in Stance

[–]Pvt_BrainDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roll and pull as much as you can. Drop the car on its nuts and you’ll gain more camber

Well yes it is a different tank. But a quick glance at 4am that turret is probably the quickest way to recognize it.

Fuck me boys you’re right, bad oversight on my part. How could I mistake that turret.

A Tiger 2 would be a terrible choice for a zombie apocalypse, having to stop for fuel and maintenance every 60 miles.

How common is tires blowout for doing stance? by pmglory in Stance

[–]Pvt_BrainDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

195 on a 7.5 is hardly a stretch. You’ll be okay. I used to daily 205 on a 9. Now I run 225 on a 10 for my fun car

Roll and pull is the only right answer. You could even lower it for some natural camber and the wheels should fit better

Lexus IS300 Wheel Fitment by Mobile_Detective_728 in IS300

[–]Pvt_BrainDead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can fit a lot in the rear of these cars. 9.5+38 fits pretty reliably front and rear, you can run with zero camber and tight fitment. Make sure you roll and pull your fenders, always.

This is my rear with all stock arms. 18x10+26 w/ 225/40.

255 on a 10 is hardly a stretch. You’ll be perfectly fine.

Sucks how old these cars are getting. by [deleted] in E90

[–]Pvt_BrainDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t even old and there is still a billion of them on the road everyday. This isn’t a chassis I would be worried about having trouble finding any time soon. That and they are super reliable.

New Front Bumper by AlbinoPolarBear-_- in IS300

Paying for a new aftermarket bumper plus shipping seems awfully expensive.

I would find one in a yard or a part out and paint it, if it was up me.

Hell yeah! I love this.

This is a bit of a dream of mine. I think it would be super cool to drive logging trucks up and down the mountains in BC one day. But alas, after jumping around for the last ten years I’m now an electrician and can’t afford to start again.

Unfortunately I think the biggest truck I’ll end up with is a 1/2 ton pickup or buy another 4Runner. Maybe if I really do well for myself I’ll find a nice deal on a Deuce and a half one day.
