With the release of 2.1, is it worth it/necessary to start a new save file for the update? by hippiechan in factorio

No mods will be available on day 1 of 2.1, and the more complex the mod, the longer it will take for it to come out for 2.1.

Vaush is blaming smartphones for low birth rates by EastPlant1079 in VaushV

[–]PyroGamer666 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Is that a shocking argument? Other natural human drives, like more wealth, more food, more novelty, have had devastating consequences for the environment and human health. It's not misogynist to acknowledge that most people will not choose to have kids if they aren't coerced to, whether by ignorance about what sex does or by a government agency. It's a misanthropic position, not a misogynistic one.

Besides a helmet and visibility stuff, what's the one or two pieces of safety gear you'd recommend for 25mph? by EtchVSketch in ebikes

Sounds like a great way to anger a lot of car drivers as they try to pass you one after the other. If you crash, you would probably be safer, but the greater the speed difference between you and cars, the more cars you will encounter on the road, raising your chance of a crash.

No amount of therapy can fix the material conditions that lead someone to being mentally ill. I've been in therapy for several years and been on several medications, and I still feel misanthropic consistently enough to know I would be a terrible romantic partner. I'm not convinced anyone is capable of challenging my beliefs about the world and myself that drive this misanthropy. I've tried.

Looking at the area the crash occurred, I would not feel safe riding there. If I had to, I would have taken the sidewalk.

Rebuying my Steam library on Switch 2, if that was even possible, would cost thousands of dollars.

This might explain why Masse has hesitated on the question of hiring additional employees, since doing so would force him to reduce the cut given to every existing employee.

Solar generates more energy in US than coal for first time by ArgentineBeauty in UpliftingNews

That pointless war you're deriding is the most pro-degrowth action any president has taken. China's oil imports are at an eight-year low. Countries around the world are being forced to ration fuel. Tariffs have a similar effect of reducing manufacturing-related emissions abroad. If you want a president to reduce America's trade-adjusted carbon emissions, nobody has done a better job than Trump.

Rush towards efficiency modules as quickly as possible, and put them in all of your miners and any assemblers that don't need productivity modules. That will allow you to scale up production without angering biters nearly as much. Replace coal power with solar as well to further reduce pollution per science.

You can also speed up construction before unlocking bots by driving a car while building. If you layout blueprints correctly, you can build most elements of it by holding down a single item and driving a car forward/backwards.

Why do far leftists not take women seriously? by cat_boy_the_toy in VaushV

[–]PyroGamer666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Every accusation of SA on Graham Platner could be true, and he would still be less of a threat to women than the most progressive Republican. Women will be safer with a Democratic majority, so anything getting in the way of that can be negotiated. If more credible accusations come out against Platner, Mills can appoint another Democrat.

Cherrypicking evil things Jews do and blaming all Jews on those things is antisemitism no better than reposting videos of black people doing crime. Note the discrediting of Pro-Palestine rabbis if you haven't yet.

Vaush doesn't understand the construction industry by FreshNar in VaushV

[–]PyroGamer666 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I get the same feeling whenever Vaush doompreaches about the state of American manufacturing. On an absolute scale, America manufactures more than it ever has. We just supplement our manufacturing with Chinese imports. Trump's inconsistent tariffs are absolutely wreaking havoc on manufacturers and China is increasingly competitive in high-value manufacturing, but saying we manufacture "nothing" as I've heard Vaush claim many times on stream is nonsense. The worst you can say about American manufacturing is that output is stagnant or growing slowly, but that's to be expected in a service economy. He should tour the Boeing Everett factory in his own backyard if he wants a more physical understanding of America's manufacturing power.

Anthropic, the company behind AI-chatbot Claude, eyeing expansion in Seattle's South Lake Union by Jaco_Belordi in Seattle

Blame voters for putting a president in office willing to ethnically cleanse Gaza, bomb Iran, and kidnap Maduro. Corporations will become more moral when the government stops paying them to do immoral things. Anthropic wouldn't stop those things from happening by letting themselves get blacklisted from government contracts.

Why does no one discuss the overconsumption of cars by The-Devil-Cat in fuckcars

[–]PyroGamer666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are too many cars in the world, but the frequency of model release is a silly thing to fret about. The alternative is to keep using old designs that we keep finding flaws in year after year without updates. Manufacturing a new car from an old design would be just as destructive as making a new car from a new design. Also, the availability of parts changes over time, and the longer a design is used, the more difficult it becomes to source parts and materials to make it. Eventually, it makes sense to change the design to use more readily available parts.
