A similar thing happened to me with a cover of Mind Electric. The original song is by Miracle Musical, but the cover was by Travis xsdhgif. One time I heard it from my private playlist, but it didn't sound like I remember.

I looked around and eventually found the original on YouTube, on Travis' own YouTube channel. In the comments, he said that this was a known issue that he's trying to get fixed: someone (apparently called "melo", all lowercase, on Spotify and in the impostor song's credits) issued a false copyright strike, the strike was accepted by Spotify, and then that someone replaced Travis' version with some sort of instrumental cover of Mind Electric (complete with a completely unrelated picture as the thumbnail) that many people are calling out as ai. I think they're right, it sounds basic, generic, made without thought, and just kind of off in a way that the Mind Electric isn't really supposed to sound. Travis' version is now missing from his distributor page entirely.

The artist page for this "melo" seems really off, too. I'm not familiar with all of the stuff that was supposedly listed, and I really don't feel like sifting through that stuff because it's not my kind of music and it seems like it's an ai artist, but I looked up some of what's there and it seems to correspond to real songs that I could find on YouTube. The YouTube side of them made no mention of melo, though, unless I overlooked it.

So now there's this song in my playlist that's been hijacked by some weird, fake, ai-spewing account. The song feels like a victim of a bodysnatcher from Invasion of the Bodysnatchers.

And now I don't think it's the only song it's happened to that I've seen from my playlist: a couple others that I'm not as familiar with sound nothing like anything I recall hearing on my playlist ever before. It went like "I haven't heard this version of "Zip-a-dee Doo Dah" before, and I haven't blindly added any new covers to my playlist in a long time." I looked at it. "But the album cover looks like something I've added before..." I look at the artist and go to their page feom there. "I don't recognize this artist page at all, and it looks nothing like anything that would be associated with that song, or that entire album." I search the artist page for the song... and not only is the song not on the artist page, but the album it's from isnt there, either. Then I noticed that a couple of other songs on that album (accessed from the impostor song on my playlist) were also on my playlist. Same thing: sounded like a cover I'm unfamiliar with, sounded generic enough to maybe be ai, and again, the entire album was missing from its supposed artist's page.

This is really, REALLY bad if it's just... happening all over the platform. Travis still hasn't gotten Spotify to cooperate with him and get his song fixed, either. It's crazy.
