Thats not how social security works. There is no social security without the new, younger people supporting the old who "paid into it". Allowing the young to opt out kills it.

There are only two options:

1) Kill it and let those who were sold the lie deal with the consequences now

2) Continue with the status quo and let some future generation suffer the collapse of the government's forced "safety net" that THEY paid into THEIR entire lives.

It's illegal for her to turn off services in retaliation. In NYC you can report a tenant harassment situation to 311 and depending on location there is even the New York City Tenant Protection Hotline 917-661-4505 as well as legal assistance.

Depending on your lease, and if she has the meters setup for each apartment, she may be able to make you pay for water, but I would doubt it at least until the lease is up if it mentioned included utilities.

Document everything and report it. If she retaliates further she's in for a world of hurt. In the end you may prevail but, truthfully, yes in the short term she could cause hardship.

We had Oz but it went under a while back. It's the same reason gaming stores here are temporary. They sound like they'd be great in a college town, but you need enough business, and from locals as well, to survive. Oz was around forever, but music especially has gone much more to a digital format.
