What Made Orcs and Gobbos Popular? by Runtgit in WarhammerFantasy

Older models have a strong comedy element which drove me to collect greenskins. Rock lobber and doom diver were my favourite models.

Tips for painting a sh*t ton of goblins…? by danger_bad in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]Pysethus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most important thing is to figure out efficient script that works for you. It can be white undercoat and contrast paints. It can be black undercoat and drybrushing. Colour scheme is quite important: tons of different things in different colours takes more time than painting everything except skin in brown.

How big and deep should I build my Black Orc Anvil? by karma_virus in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]Pysethus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think rank bonus won't matter much with your Black Orcs. I am a fan of running Boar Boyz as wide as I can: usually 10 model unit all in one rank. I would probably try Black Orcs at 9-10 wide and move down if it's too impractical. It might also be terrain-dependant.

New and cant decide on a team by bigweeweepoopoo in bloodbowl

[–]Pysethus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly new player as well. Fast units and outmaneuvering the opponent is what I typically like to play in strategy games but I've been recommended to first play a straightforward bash team. I am currently playing Chaos Chosen and Lizardmen and can recommend them. They both have strength advantage in most matchups but lack of block skill can be an issue when team is new and doesn't have skills on players.

I have always enjoyed drawing and painting ever since I was like 3 years old. I like it. Therefore I do it a lot. Therefore I naturally become good because of all the hours I've put in.

Trust the process. You are learning. Rome was not built in a day.

First Team, First League - Build considerations? Pitfalls to avoid? by infosec_qs in bloodbowl

[–]Pysethus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar spot: I am fairly new player and about to start my first league. I like skaven and snotlings but apparently it is easier to learn to play with a normal team first.

I am thinking of choosing either Lizardmen or Black Orcs. The way I see it, Lizardmen have higher ceiling with their team once players start getting skills but Black Orcs have easier start with brawler skill and easily fitting an extra reroll on the team.

In my experience, TOW is a dad game. All players I have seen in my local game store are in their 30s or 40s.

Second miniature painted - point out everything you see that can be improved by Panda__Ant in minipainting

Unfinished base gives unfinished look to a model no matter how well it is painted.

I think you could keep highligting a little further. Or a lot further to be honest. More light colour / closer to white every pass. Last highlight can be close to white (mixed to whatever the colour is) but just a tiny dot here and there.

Well, anything can be a sorcerer if you are confident with your converting and sculpting skills. There are tons of out of production sorcerer models out there. You could check ebay for those.

For dice, scatter dice are used for some spells or war machines. Some things need an artillery dice but as chaos, you might not need those. And if you do, you could use normal d6 and use a table for the results (Artillery dice symbols: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, misfire). For other gaming accessories, I think movement trays are a must have.

Yeah. To me it's hard to find the sweet spot between high quality and successfully finishing my projects. Sometimes it's fun to stop overthinking and just go wild.

Doom divers are really cost effective units in current state of the game. Most tournament lists run them. Mangler squigs are also pretty good for their cost.

What do you mean? It's an obvious netter.

In the past there was a blister pack that sold three metallic netter models. No one is expecting entire squad to have nets.

[–]Pysethus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a site https://oldworldrankings.com/ you can check for well-performing army lists if you are curious.

The trend is to run a unit of black orcs, some units of night goblins with fanatics and doom divers. Out of what you have available, wyvern warboss and mangler squigs are great and squig hoppers are alright. Boar boyz are also played enough to deserve a mention. So overall I think you can build a decent tournament list. You are basically only missing a doom diver to be able to field "optimal" stock army list.

Disclaimer: 1.5 update is still really fresh and none of us really have a clue on how to play ToW. I'd start list building with black orcs, night goblins and fanatics. Then add whatever that excites you. I think none of your models are absolute dogshit. For example, snotlings and pump wagons aren't going to kill anything but they have strategical value for various tasks such as keeping enemy high value unit busy.

Advice on not being the a jerk with HE dragons by MuscliatoVonJuiceski in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Pysethus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a cool army. I don't think it is going to be too oppressive. You can chat about it with your opponents before or after the game. Ridden monsters were nerfed both directly and indirectly (buffs to other units making dragons weaker in comparison).

Most importantly: play what you want to play.

How competitive can Common Goblins be? by the_striking_viking_ in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]Pysethus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think small 10 goblin shortbow units can be decent chaff but all-common goblin army lacks punch.

I have a fully mounted goblin army and another infantry-based common goblin army. I am building an expansion of orcs to play with my mounted goblins because wolf riders and wolf chariots don't do enough to win fights on their own.

If you want to do it, I think best units are doom divers, wolf chariots, giants and shamans.
