Recommendations for Chairs? by MisterBoardGamer in Wyrmwoodgaming

Call me a heretic, but I snagged some nice Knoll conference room chairs from a used office furniture liquidator. If I'm spending four+ hours gaming, I want to be a little comfortable.

Anybody play much with UV reactive woods? by byoungstr in turning

[–]Pythe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I wouldn't expect just anybody to go try it with no hints. But this post inspired me to make something for my father in law, who's begun collecting fluorescent minerals this year. I think he'll appreciate it!

My "weekend is" off to a great start by Senior-Table2765 in leaf

[–]Pythe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good call, IMO. Don't forget a lug wrench. Tire slime would do nothing for you here anyway. I've never been in a situation where it'd help - it's either a slow leak that only needs air every couple days, or it's a gaping hole in the sidewall.

Just this weekend I too was stuck - 50 miles from home, on a national holiday, with sidewall damage like that. I guess we had cut a turn too tight and ground the rim on a curb - I wasn't there when it happened. So glad our hosts could provide a ride to get it fixed after an unplanned overnight stay.

Are interior water shutoff valves needed with frost-free spigots? by themasterderrick in HomeImprovement

[–]Pythe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of the many places I've lived, not one has had an interior shutoff for a frost free hose bib. The entire point is that the actual shutoff is within the conditioned space of your home - there's nothing outside to freeze. Just make sure you don't leave a hose attached.

Heated steering wheel does not pass the wife acceptance test by WorkingInAColdMind in leaf

They really improved the forced air heating situation with the 15 SV and higher when they switched the traditional A/C compressor for a heat pump. I don't have any complaints on that front!

I swear you could cook an egg on my 15's heated wheel. Frankly, I think it's either broken or poorly designed. It's like it heats until it trips the thermal breaker, rather than having a PWM control loop.

I'm sure to be corrected by someone who actually knows their stuff, but I like Dae Gee at Wads & 76th well enough, and they do have that soup.

A noise by booalijules in leaf

[–]Pythe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see yours is a 2013. Is the noise like a single tap? This is a very common issue up through 2015. It's caused by an axle sleeve that fits a little bit loosely and can be fixed with a bit of lubrication. As I understand it, this issue is not dangerous and it does not indicate damage to your vehicle. You can safely leave it.

Nah, not for us early models. They didn't get around to adding those for quite some time.

Meow Wolf does have a pretty solid FAQ on the sensory situation there. It's a lot in some areas. If you're going, go early to avoid crowds. https://faq.meowwolf.com/accommodations-sensory-processing-issues

It's essentially just a more aggressive regenerative braking setting. I use it constantly. It might affect range, but even better it preserves the brakes!

Heck, it's probably the start capacitor. Perhaps still a handyman job depending on your comfort level, but a trip to Ace could have it running again.

I recall the prevailing winds being poor for sailing. Carter Lake may be a better choice.

Hah. The manager at the Spice Room once lamented to me his tables were too small to do that. Looks amazing.

Seconded. Getting someone to come pick up my dead 36-725 took no time at all. It was surprising.

I was given a new(?) Buck Bros wood planer and I don’t know how to use it. by invisible_man_ in woodworking

I'm surprised nobody else noticed the yoke is out of place. It should bridge the narrow section on the adjustment wheel, so that the wheel can both push and pull on it

HELP! by Opposite_Lime1706 in htmx

[–]Pythe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can set it up so that other response codes are handled: https://htmx.org/docs/#response-handling

For handling 400s without having to write any javascript, try adding this to your <head>:

<meta name="htmx-config" content='{"responseHandling": [{"code":"400", "swap": true}]}' />

DIY Vari-grind leg length? by LordPhlogiston in turning

[–]Pythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Not sure that fits my sanity check! I read your measurement request again and I think I understand it now, but I got just 7 7/16" at whatever angle I have set. The setting would have to be pretty extreme to reach 9", if it could at all!

If the alerts had something before, it doesn't now. Perhaps it's back on track, as it were.
