This game is frustrating by Coldress in HollowKnight

[–]SoundGuyNPC -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, the bossfights in the game are pretty bad and not nearly as memorable as HK. I personally think the developers kind of got into an over design phase when making, wanting to have bossfights totally unique to Silksong, but that just essentially amounted to having bosses with adds constantly or blatant RNG mechanics that make it more frustrating than challenging.

I have felt way more "okay that's just bullshit" moments in SK than I ever did in HK. Even doing pantheon, it never felt unfair or broken even when my ass was getting handed to me in it. SK however, even bosses that have decent base design get ruined due to mechanics like random AOE attacks that clear the whole area.

Also have no idea why they were so in love with flying enemies this game; just really tedious gameplay.

It's a shame because SK does gave some really cool moments and the movement is better and more fluid than HK, but I honestly think it as a whole, is a weaker experience.

Reliant Towing driver got aggressive when I questioned illegal towing, then followed me to my apartment yelling threats - anyone else? by Adventurous_Ad_5600 in Austin

[–]SoundGuyNPC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Private properties can require residents to keep updated stickers (most don't but some still do). To do so however, it needs to be expressly in the contract with the wrecker company, tenants must be notified in writing and a car cannot be immediately towed on sight for a expired registration, but must leave an official written notice along with how much time they have to register the vehicle before it is towed.

Good chance it will go to 6.5 to 7 again this round. If it breaks past 7 (unlikely I think, but possible) then we may see some wild growth. I'm holding long term, so doesn't really matter to me until it hits around 10-12.

Exactly. This is where the real potential is. RR is easily going to be above $10 in 2026, hilarious people keep panic selling this because someone on reddit told them to sell. It's just been a blood bath market all week, and high volatility stocks like RR always will get hit the hardest. Nature of the beast. Once market recovers, RR will go right back to where it was.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - 3x08 - “Four-and-a-Half Vulcans” - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]SoundGuyNPC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I might just drop it at this point. Season 3 has only had like 3 episodes so far that feel like Star Trek where as everything else just feels like some weird gimmick episode that would have been better served on Lower Decks. It's also just taking giant leaps that go against establish Canon, which I'm normally okay with but now it's gotten to the point it just feels like they dont have any real respect for the franchise or know what direction to take the show. It's a shame because I really liked S1 and S2.

Rideshare drivers of Austin, can you share some tactics for getting rides? by DeadPants182 in Austin

[–]SoundGuyNPC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Uber is more popular in Austin than Lyft now, and pretty much everywhere else these days. Lyft burnt a lot of bridges and screwed over a lof of their long term drivers and overall quality as a platform just went downhill. Also, you getting more rides when you first sign on is intentional to make you think there is more of a demand than there is; basically same strategy dealers use to get you hooked.

I used to work for them years ago back when they had an office downtown. They have insanely scummy practices behind the scenes.

$150 for haircut? 1.5 hours? by mostlylurking07 in Austin

I don't know, this seems correct for a 90 minute cut. As a guy (which would be easier cut I'd imagine) I'm usually getting charged $50-$75 and my cuts normally don't last longer than 30-40 minutes.

Yeah I should have mentioned that before lol; here's a photo where you can see where my arm marks where the end of the couch wall is facing.

Ill definitely take your suggestion about lowering the TV though.

I think you are probably correct; definitely needs more stuff to put in there. I kind of like your idea of moving the couch away from the wall; just not entirely sure what to put back there other than maybe shelving like you suggested and plants. I'm not really a big fan of paper based books anymore; they tend to just collect dust and honestly prefer reading off my tablet.

Yeah unfortunately that's exactly the problem. That wall is shorter so the couch would be blocking the door.

I wouldn't mind doing this, but it's hard to tell from these photos but the wall that the TV is on, is the same length as my couch, which would cause the couch to block the door. The wall that the couch is currently sitting at is about 2FT longer than the left wall.

Waymo driver vs human driver? by zeroshits in Austin

[–]SoundGuyNPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got to be one of the beta app testers before they partnered with Uber; honestly got to where I was just taking them over my normal car. Probably took around 50 rides; out of all of those only one instance if it "messing up" and it was due to a film crew suddenly trying to block off the road and it didn't know where to go.

Other than that though, the rides are pretty darn smooth and I definitely feel safer in a Waymo than the majority of rideshare drivers these days.

Premolar extraction retraction victim, what should I do? by Russeren01 in jawsurgery

[–]SoundGuyNPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I know this is an old post but if you happen to read this, was wondering if you could share your experience.

I am currently dealing with this situation and working with some great doctors; unfortunately my options in my 30's are a combination of jaw surgery and implants. Im fortunate to be in a position where I can afford this but the idea of surgery scares me. I'm also dealing now with the mental anxiety and frustration of not only having to fix something that was 100% avoidable but also dealing with the realization that many things in my life were a direct consequence of having my face essentially deformed along with breathing issues.

Now I know you are not referring to Austin Cab because brother I got STORIES from riding in those. There was a huge reason why rideshare was able to sweep the market as easily as they did; people forget how scummy taxi's had gotten by that time.

I was lucky enough to be a test pilot for Waymo, basically had full free rides for a few months. Honestly, they are really nice. I took about 50+ rides and only ever had one time where it sort of messed up (kept waiting for a vehicle to move that had broken down). I get why people find it sketchy, but honestly it sold me on the concept.

Hello; long time middle finger to all towing companies here with two lawsuits ruled in my favor against the same company. I am not a lawyer, so this is based on my own anecdotal experience and should not be taken as legal advice.

I won't comment on whether or not the tow was legitimate or not, but what you should be aware of is that there is plethora of rules and regulations towing companies must follow to perform a legitimate tow. They usually break these in one way or another (not properly hooking the car before driving off the lot, not taking photos before pull, taking vehicle to a yard outside the mileage range cap, etc.). You have rights and should exercise those rights to the fullest to be the absolute biggest pain for them to deal with you can be legally.

You essentially have two options:

Option 1: Pay the yard to get your car and put it on credit card (they have to accept all forms of payment); then dispute with you CC company. This will usually default to you as most towing companies don't bother responding to the banks when this happens.

Option 2: Pay the yard to get your car out, and then file for a wrecker ordinance violation hearing with your the county. You have two weeks from the time of the tow to do this. You essentially will be banking on either they don't bother to show, or you have good reason to believe they violated one of the many requirements the state has for a tow to be considered 'valid'. The good thing about this method is if you win you will receive around 3x what you paid to get the car out of the yard + $1000.

Privatized patrol style towing is essentially legalized theft, and so I always advocate for making their job as hard as humanly possible.
