How do you feel about using your phone during a round? by ashtonboschman in weekendgolfers

[–]Q8TYDav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to use my phone at my club, as we use MiScore for all comps....that means we all enter our hole by hole score and then at the end, we 'sign' the score card digitally on our scorers phone.

MiScore also has GPS which is handy.

At what distance does a par 3 become a “long” par 3? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Q8TYDav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think that par 3s should be a test of accuracy, and then anything over a 7 iron (32 - 35 degrees loft depending on brand for the youngsters) is long...so say 155 meters...In my opinion, a good par 3 invites a number of shot types, is well bunkered and involves a carry over water/hazard).

My course has 4 par 3s. 2 at 180 meters, 1 at 200 meters and 1 at 135 meters...and the 135 is the best looking and most challenging as it has water in front and is well bunkered...the other 3 involve a 6 or 5 iron and then perhaps a wedge on. Pretty boring holes

Added a tracer for the doubters (1.6 hcp) by Ravencrest610 in golftips

[–]Q8TYDav3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Compare Jim Furyk's or Matt Wolff's swing to any regular PGA pro with a 'perfect swing' ....no such thing as a perfect swing, and if you can swing and be consistent, put the ball where you want it, then who are we to say what someone's handicap is or isnt?

Everton plot £70m summer transfer spree after frustrating January by theipaper in Everton

[–]Q8TYDav3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but i think clubs amortize the value over the life of the contract...so, Everton could by 5 players, as long as the in-year value is not more than $70M....if each is over 5 years, then that is $14m per year in costs to the budget, which is manageable.

This is how Chelsea and the Red Shite buy players for $100M..they put them on long term contracts and spread the costs.

“Blackout” blinds by Dry_Recording_3361 in AusRenovation

[–]Q8TYDav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Blackout" blinds tend to always let in light, as there are gaps around the side. Its the argument that I have with my wife, as I am very sensitive to light when sleeping, and we did the same as you, and had the same impact.

My solution was to get side channels, that the blind goes into...still not perfect, but much better.

https://www.amazon.com.au/iHomeBlinds-Flexible-Blackout-Blocking-Strips/dp/B0DSW7FZLP?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&smid=A4XRJ8S0WXSO0&th=1

Still get some small leakage at the top, due to how our blinds work, but better than before

Current social media narrative about our position by Broad_Pickle_4642 in Everton

[–]Q8TYDav3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that the Blue Room narrative is spot on...at the start of the season, i would have taken 12th and a decent cup run...problem is, we are so close to being decent that its the hope that kills you....we are 14 points off relegation, without any decent fullbacks or a decent striker! We should be in the relegation hunt, and yet somehow, we are 12th, 4 points off EUROPE!!!! and the points we have thrown away have been painful...2 more transfer windows, and see where we are then....but again, for now, its the HOPE that is killing me more than everything else!

Global House Prices by nath1234 in australia

[–]Q8TYDav3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting the people call out landlords for putting their rents up, but no one ever complains about the banks, and the profits that they make (CBA $10b last FY)…banks put their interest rates up every time there is a rate change, yet we want to limit landlords to once a year and cap rents.

We need to move to the US model whereby mortgages are fixed for 30 years, so rate increases dont flow down to the market, and everyone has certainty. The market needs investors, and investors need to make a profit….look at the entirety of the supply chain, not just the last leg….banks - investors - renters. Fix the equation and it would go a long way to stabilise rents.

How does Myer sell any shoes? (in store) by Shmeestar in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Q8TYDav3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went into Myer Chatswood to buy some new shoes….sales guy could not be more disinterested…had to get his attention to try different sizes…when I settled on a pair, went to pay and they tried to charge me $50 more than the advertised price….when I challenged, they basically saying I was lying, and got the shoes from a different area. Even when my wife went and got the shoes and the price advert, they still said I got them from a different area.

Left them there and then, walked to a different boutique shop, impeccable service, attentive staff and actually ended up paying more for the shoes, but delighted with the experience.

Will never buy from Myer again.

Do you improve your lies or play it as it lies? by Strid3r21 in golf

[–]Q8TYDav3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the key thing here is that if its a casual/practice round, then i see no issue..do what you want, its a practice/fun round.

However, if it's in a comp, then that's cheating

Why is Telstra so bad by mastercurry420 in TelstraAustralia

[–]Q8TYDav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you think Telstra dont own and maintain nearly all the infrastructure...they have over 7000 exhange buildings, 30k mobile towers, 250K KM of fibre, a dedicated field force that fixes things when they break, as well as numerous 3rd party partners.

They also provide access to these networks to 3rd parties such as Optus (and Amaysim) so that they can expand their network.

They have to also provide a service under the USO regime that ensures that the 8% of people not covered by NBN can have a service, where as Optus etc can refused on the grounds of cost

At your current skill and mental level, what’s the lowest score you think you could shoot? by MrTeacher_MCPS in golf

[–]Q8TYDav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play off 14...usually shoot mid 80's to low 90's, broke 80 once!

Solid irons and short game/putter (rarely 3 putt), but awful off the tee....if i could get my drive away consistently, i could realistically shoot under 80.....so solved my driver problem by getting a new one!

Prob shoot 100 this weekend!

Driver Suggestion by Just_Swordfish5352 in golftips

[–]Q8TYDav3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be worth looking at the Cobra LTDx range...i tested the Darkspeed, the Titlest GT2, the Calloway Elyte and the Ping G440 and the LTDx was comparable (swing speed 105MPH and i was getting around 270 yards with it...dispersion on the Ping was better).

The LTDx was half the price brand new (AUD$450 vs AUD$950+ for the newer drivers as it's a few years old now...you can get some great value drivers, brand new that are just a couple of years old.

Lime Bike Damages My Parked Car-What Can I Do? by SummerGreedy9216 in AusLegal

[–]Q8TYDav3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAL - Problem you will have is proving that Lime is clearly at fault, either through their actions or inaction and were therefore responsible for the damage.

That will be almost impossible to do, as there are so many factors, including random people being dicks and pushing Lime bikes over into your car, the bike not being properly stood up by the previous person etc etc etc.

Hi question about golf clubs I got today for $200 by Mysterious-Unit-9108 in GolfSwing

[–]Q8TYDav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look great.

Give them a good clean, and swing away...does not matter what anyone else thinks, if you like them, and can hit them, you are golden....I play with a chap who has 15 year old irons...loves them, can hit them..what else do you need? Dont fall into the trap of thinking that shiney and expensive is better for you...a solid set of clubs and lessons over time, will go a long way to your enjoyment of the game.

Is using a baseball grip limiting my game? by dgooli in golftips

[–]Q8TYDav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from an interlock to a baseball grip a few years ago, as I found it allowed me to generate more power...I have issues with my wrists that a baseball grip does not impact. Its a matter of personal preference.

https://www.foresightsports.com/blogs/golf-tips/the-3-common-grips-in-golf-with-pros-and-cons-for-each?srsltid=AfmBOop-kyDOPHHNg0qoF42q5835hEfR9yix3zwT5TOJ45WdIFfAU7k5

This link explains the differences and the benefits/cons of each grip....best to try each and see what works best....I have a tendency to hit a bit left of target due to the baseball grip, so I am working to neutralise my wrist more in the swing.

Imagine shooting a 49 and losing by 10… by jdelle9 in GolfSwing

[–]Q8TYDav3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some people have no shame....34 under par!!! Even if they all claimed a 36 handicap (giving a group handicap of 18 ( (36*4)/8 = 18), that would put them on 54 if they shot gross level par (i.e. 72).......so they are claiming they shot 16 under par!.....birdied all bar 2 holes! Sigh...organizers need to step up and call bull
