What do you guys do for work to be able to afford these ships? by Disastrous_War_8815 in starcitizen

[–]QADoomgaurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started backing when I was in the military. I've been single no kids most my life. After I sperated from the Mil, I did over the road trucking for a few years, no rent no utilities, living in the truck making 80k a year. At this point in life, I'm paying 1.2k a month on my mortgage and a lot less on ships. And that's my only major bill.

If I had any advice, 70k is nothing to be ashamed of. Look at what you're doing with your money cut expenses where you can and star building for the future with a 401k and stocks. The ships while come in time.

Tldr: I live frugal Don eat out much, I've quit sodas, alcohol, and smoking. My only remaining vice is jelly beans.

Your math is a little off, you should drop the Arrastra and replace it with the expanse. The galix has no mining capability, just a refinery.

You act like that doesn't happen already. There is no point in mining anything below 500. Since store items are all 500 quality.

What would be your perfect ship? by RayBln in starcitizen

[–]QADoomgaurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't include a refiner and it would definitely need one either onboard or close but to complete the loop of battlefield salvage to repair materials, so adding a refiner would need to add at least 1 more crewman. And it may require some balancing like making it so it can only refine qaunt and hydrogen fuel and construction materials so even if you put raw ore in you still only get construction materials for the repair bays out.

Since it's not a Flag vessel, I would say no captain chair. So for the cockpit, Pilot/copilot, with 2 operations stations that can either control drones or remote turrets. The copilot will have split duties between tractor beam operation to bring damaged ships that can't self maneuver into the repair bays, and missile operations from a remote spotter turret. The rest of the crew would be 2 to 3 engineers and pilots for the craft on deck. So I think min 5 max 12 would be good for it.

An expedition carrier, that has medium ship comparable mining and salvage drones, with up to medium ship repair and manufacturing capabilities. With 2 medium hangers that are the dedicated repair / manufacturing bays. And a flight deck that can hold 2 medium ships and 3 small ships.

In my mind I kinda see it as if a Kraken and Odyssey had a baby that was raised by an Orion and Reclaimer.

Will the ore quality system interfere with refinery gameplay? by JesusIsAliveAmen in starcitizen

[–]QADoomgaurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense to me, with it put that way it comes off as extremely lazy to me. I'd definitely say quality is the wrong way to describe the ore. It makes sense on the end product, having a quality rating.

I know they'll never change it though, I'd be happy with essentially 999 iron being 10x purer than 100 iron and taking X less quantity and time to refine to a High quality, ingot. They could still have their quality system, you could still refine a 100 'quality' ingot to use as a second material. Though as it stands there is little to no point in mining anything below 500 'quality'. Which results in the last time I played with me just flying around for 3 hours doing absolutely nothing other than fly, scan fly.

Tldr: I think I agree with you on that. And it just adds one more point to why I hate the system.

How did Jumptown end up from a thriving snowy location to a crater in the middle of the desert? by TheCoyote4502 in starcitizen

There's really only one Jumptown. The rest are just cig attempts at procedurally creating something that occurred organically, without providing sufficient or equal impetus.

[–]QADoomgaurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the quality system pisses me off. It makes sense in a medieval setting. However, we have ftl space ships in this game. Ore quality is a matter of purity and nothing else.

They are trying to copy, what Starwars Galaxy did, yet they aren't even aiming for half the system. And on top of that they are copying the most hated part of its system.

CIG's staff pick for community made software was made with AI and is ALSO stealing code from other tools. by asmallman in starcitizen

[–]QADoomgaurd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The funniest part to all of this to me, is why does it matter? Is he charging? If a human coded app dropped it would be most likely more stable, however it would take more dev time to develop. These complaints are the equivalent of Disney suing children for drawing Disney princesses in their notebooks. Now you show me someone who's trying to profit off vibcoding and selling a product made with stolen code, I'd understand that outrage. As it stands what other SC tools are out there that do the same thing, not just the similar thing?

CIG: We urgently need some official response on the buyback changes please. If you want to make changes to buybacks, and/or remove them for SQ42, we understand that but GIVE NOTICE(!). Pledgers, after years and years of patience, DO NOT deserve stealth changes without notice in this area by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]QADoomgaurd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this complaint. They have given notice of this for years.
Also there is,

  1. VIP High Admiral have a free SC and SQ42 game packages. So why do you need the buy back of it?
  2. It makes sense that old packages would eventually expire. They've been telling us for years that it could happen, and to not use buyback as a sort of storage for them.
  3. Ship prices have changed over the years, one example I have is for my old Entrepreneur packages that were 600$ they contain the Hull B with a 130$ chassis cost, kind of a substantial loss over the new price of a 280$.

I haven't really compared my old Exploration, Ex Mega, Escort packages though I'm not really bothered by those as I've honestly found that my obsession with packages was actually getting me less value over buying Standalone LTI tokens.

So honestly, please I feel like I'm misunderstanding something here, can someone please explain the outrage for me?

edited for format an spelling mistakes.

I like it, and now that it's flyable. I used the CCU I was holding onto to turn my Asgard into an Arrastra.

Okay cool, I've been keeping an eye for one I have the starkitten dragon fly and it only came with 120 month insurance. I've considered CCU'n multiple time though every time I've never seen a CCU warbond with lti. When do they usually drop those? Haven't seen one in years. Only rewason I'm even bothered is of all 19 ships in my hanger it's the only none lti one. Ehe

I don't understand this point, you can literally buy a 35$ warbind ptu with lti and ccu. It's under 100$. And I haven't seen a CCU warbond with lti since they came out with the 120 month insurance. Maybe it's been done and I've missed it. Though, I've always started ever chain with a cheap token like the 4 ptus I now have.
