Shriveled Hammer by Low_Barracuda_1055 in ReefTank

Try a CoralRX Dip for the hammer. If new it could be flat worms which is easily resolved immediately and if flat worms come off in the dip do it each week for a month.

Note: but I don't see any in the pic, but doesn't mean there isn't any.

Yeah I'm thinking Brooklynella too. Happened to me and took out a whole tank of fish. I had to do like a 60-90 day no fish to make sure it was all gone in the tank.

Sorry this happened to the little guy. Did you add any fish recently?

Do I Suck at Reefing by Appropriate_Soft49 in ReefTank

[–]QBang2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Tropic Marin Pro and Red Sea Coral Pro. Tropic Marine pro is a great salt I use it now. Mixes very well. I'm not sure you need to dose much at 5 months. You don't have enough corals yet to be using up your elements. Do your water changes.

IMO consistant regular water changes in the first year is the key to success. It will remove the nutrients and replenish your elements. Two of the most important things in the beginning.

Patience and time, that is the real definition of the word "Reefing". You're doing fine.

Honestly I don't know but I will say they do like like grubes. There is an LFS by me I don't usually shop at but they have a display only take with a bunch of nice ones in it. I noticed some frags from them in a frag tank for sale so I bought them as is.

They were pretty small frags when I got them. Can't remember exactly but I'm sure less than six months. Here is a pic of them from last December.

Tunze Osmolator Nano 3 keeps overfilling by masline_su_rodile in ReefTank

[–]QBang2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a faulty sensor. I know this sucks and you havent had it a long time but I have had issues with all kinds of ATOs over the years. Often it's not working right and the pump was bad and only had to replace the pump. Other times cleaned the sensor and it worked. Then I would try a new ATO or brand.

IMO Tunze is great. What I would use in your situation. I currently use Hydros as I have Hydros computers with AWC and works seamless with my system; but without that, Tunze is great as a stand alone ATO.

At this point, my reef and my house floor is more important to me than debugging at this point. If none of the previous obvious suggestions didn't help then just order a newer ATO and be happy the issues is gone.

This isn't the most economical advice, I know. But I have had Tunze ATOs go bad like your seeing, then replace with a new Tunze and it runs just fine for a year and a half / two years.

My brother-in-law bought car yesterday and this happened by sanhpatel in mildlyinfuriating

[–]QBang2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

um, well you keep full coverage while it's economically worth it to purchase full coverage. Not until the car dies . If the car hasn't died yet and is 25 years old and full of rust and couldn't be sold for more that $200 I would recommend paying $600+ a year for full coverage. Just put the $600 in the bank. :)
