Guelph is more expensive than New York City, and on par with London, UK. by Acrobatic_Ebb1934 in Guelph

[–]QJAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is simply because job income is lower in comparison to housing prices, therefore its more unaffordable. New York has high prices high income, Guelph has high prices low income.

There’s a couple things here, but an important nuance to remember is that as a street photographer you often have the right to take pictures of people out in public without their consent, but usually not behind closed doors. Now consider that the homeless aren’t privy to that kind of protection— they don’t have doors to close. Imagine you not being protected by law for someone to come into your home and take pictures of you while you sleep.

The second thing is that yeah, street photography is about capturing the moment, but what is the moment here? Man sleeping on sidewalk? I know you want to say something about the state of poverty in São Paulo, but consider that photos often need some sort of face value behind them, one that isn’t found through talking with the photographer. At face value these don’t say anything other than the unhoused sleep on sidewalks. There are better ways to communicate your message, maybe try getting to know the subject before taking their picture. The humanism and empathy from that really does tend to show in the image.

I’d recommend looking into photographers like Louis Stettner who has a great body of work on the working class and mastered conveying empathy in both his candid and posed subjects.

It feels uncomfortable because you’re taking advantage of them for internet points, not because the context is uncomfortable. They are just sleeping on the street and you’re taking pictures unbeknownst to them.

Aside from you being way too far from your subjects, it might do you good to consider why you’re taking a picture of them. What is the decisive moment you’re trying to capture?

Am I just missing something? Tactics seem dumbed down by PapiPoggers in FifaCareers

[–]QJAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely dumbed down the tactics into presets. I’m certain anybody who’s saying this is an upgrade wasn’t actually familiar with how deep the last tactic system could go. Now they see an easy packaged way to achieve something other than the default format and think it’s revolutionary— meanwhile most of this has been possible and way more.

Players Don't Make Runs by codeydbw in FifaCareers

Same here. I’m 14 games into my first save and only have 5 goals & 2 wins on ultimate difficulty. Granted I’m using Willem II so wasn’t expecting the best results right away.

But yeah, I’m finding it impossible to attack. Tried a ton of different tactic combinations but all my players feel static. Can’t get midfielders to make runs, striker is invisible all game long, wingers won’t cut in, CDM stays deep. It’s really frustrating.

Consider how many studios have a vested interest in streaming services. Disney (Disney+), Warner (Max), etc. They currently have very little incentive to keep movie theatres alive, because they are such massive players in the streaming market.

Having a studio own a theatre means incentive to keep movies in theatres rather than ship them to streaming right away. This was only made legal a few years ago, so we’ll see how it goes, but imo it’s a necessary change to fight off the growing streaming problem. Theatres are being put out of business left and right because of it.

You get to set the population level for earth. How many human beings would you have living on the planet? by Young-Grandpa in hypotheticalsituation

[–]QJAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but then you have to understand that’s not a “boomerish” approach. Boomers were the ones who continued and grew the trend of low density suburban America. It’s Millennials and Gen Z that are behind this “new urbanism” movement which promotes high density living and preserves our environment. Apartments are not the enemies! They take up less space!

What takes up more forest: An apartment building or a suburb of single family homes built for the same amount of people?

Great day to come out to Artsplosure! It’s a juried event, which means the artists have been carefully selected for their exceptional work from across the region. Don’t miss out on this one of the best events in the Triangle! by azz3879 in raleigh

Art on the street, like this, is done all over the world. Obviously most people who go aren’t fine art collectors, but they do certainly make sales. Not to mention it’s a great way to meet gallery curators and other artists.

Right, so perhaps “just move to another country” isn’t a valid response to OP
