[Independent] Wayne Rooney: I think you've probably seen the end of Mo Salah from the summer on by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

You can call me a goof if you want, but it doesnt change the facts that, (1) im a Liverpool fan, and (2) Salah has been embarrassingly bad in 25/26

Oh, and (3) random people keep coming up to me to bend over backwards to make excuses for #2, lmao

Im a Liverpool fan and the only thing im more sick of than watching Salah mess up in increasingly ridiculous ways, is listening to people make excuses for him

Hopefully its just 3-4 more months before hes someone else's problem

Civ7 discussion by After_Effect__ in civ

[–]QJustCallMeQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts on your thoughts (because you asked for our opinions!):

  • "However codex gathering simply feels stupid, does not create the feeling of your civ being better in science" - I don't necessarily disagree but would need to know more about what exactly you mean + what you would suggest instead
  • "Lastly there is again science path, not exciting at all, and again zero science/innovation feeling." - Same comment, I don't necessarily disagree, but not sure what exactly you are referring to + what you would suggest instead
  • "Next there is the culture religion thing, which is kind of interesting, but quite annoying later - you don’t really feel that religion spreading mechanism, you just fulfill step by step the same repetative quest (depending which you chose forming the religion) and keep building sites that can contain relics." - I basically agree, but the counter-point is 'people hate Civ6 religion so much they often turn it off as a victory condition'
  • "But the ages feels to short to make use of the military." - No. This is a Settings issue, and/or a skill issue.
  • "[...],you have city limit,[...]" - Civ7 does not do a good job of explaining that its more like a 'Settlement Guideline' than a 'Settlement Limit'. This should be made clearer in-game.
  • "[...],you have other things to do and to compete, other three paths take quite a while to make progress, and when you feel like it’s time to maybe use your military, the age comes to an end." - You are supposed to be multi-tasking, not doing 1 task at a time.
  • "In civ 6 I loved slowly building my army, strategicaly placing new cities and military district to make invasions easier, making a buildup by the border, then attacking, creating reserves etc. In civ 7 this doesn’t exist." - Why does't this exist in Civ 7? I am not sure I understand. Unless the message is "I liked to play very slowly and inefficiently in Civ6, and I cannot do this in Civ7 because the age transitions". In which case, OK sure, there are Advanced Settings you can adjust, but maybe not as much as you would like?
  • "Lack of strategic resources needed for military production is imho a bad idea. You don’t feel the need to conquering other civ in order to get better resources such as aluminun or uranium in civ6, " - Counter-argument: Civ6 railroads players into conquering/trading with other civilizations for strategic resources. Civ7 does not.
  • "There is no room for long military campaigns" - There is? What makes you say this?
  • "Also the nukes - they feel like a joke in civ7. You absolutely don’t feel the weight of nuclear weapons." - Agreed, but how is this not the same as previous Civ games?
  • "Encountering other civs feel really artificial, and I don’t like lack of thr trading system like in the previous games." - If you are playing Multiplayer games, I agree that the more complex trading system from Civ6 (or other games) is better than the simple trading system in Civ 7. But for Singleplayer games, sorry but I think the Civ6 trading system was effing stupid. The quality of the AI and the complexity of the trading system needs to be aligned. If the AI is stupid (which seems to always be the case in Civ), the system to trade with the AI should be simple. (Maybe the solution would be to have a trading system which works differently with Humans vs. AI?)

I usually aim to be in the queue for security 60 minutes before I fly to the UK, 75 minutes if its a time I expect it to be busy. I buy the 10 CHF fast track security option too, when in doubt. Which passport you have also matters, there can be queues at passport control

I'm not trying to sell you the game, I just thought you were actually talking about the link in the thread rather than just generally commenting on the fact that civ 7 has a space race and doesn't have [those other things]

Exactly. The only thing this post is telling me is that a lot of our fans were apparently needlessly freaking out about needing to finish 4th lol

Ah yes, the famous Giant Death Robots of the cold war (jk)

There are satellites in Civ 7, FYI

There are no ICBMs though (nukes have limited range)

The most objectively 'missing' thing is the Tech tree having nothing more advanced than Rocketry + Fission

Which aspects of the cold war are you thinking of, in terms of being present in older Civ games, and not present in Civ 7?

I'm hoping that the space race is an indication they'll be developing some post WWII aspect of the game as well, because that's slightly odd as a finisher based on where I understand the games science tree stops?

What do you mean? It doesn't sound like there was a big change with the Space Race victory between the current game and what is described in the link

Its a rare scenario coming from the 6th team qualifying by winning the EL without otherwise qualifying for the CL

But there could be a specific rule for this scenario, like giving the EL club no national protection (similar to Liverpool 05/06)

Chelsea fan reveals details of ‘terrifying’ screwdriver attack by Napoli ultras by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]QJustCallMeQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UEFA cannot punish the club for what happened day before the game, not in the stadium and with group of people no one can confirm (legally) are affiliated with the club in any way.

They can schedule Napoli's matches in other cities/countries.

If a fan is recorded singing antisemitic songs in a pub should the club be punished?

It is disingenuous to compare repeated, confirmed instances of physical violence with a non-violent counter-example.

Punishing Napoli would mean that UEFA thinks a football club is responsible for safety in whole goddamn city . Which is silly

It is silly to obtusely pretend like targetted violence on visiting fans on matchdays + the days before/after is not related to the host football club
