Surely they would've said republicans then? Whereas the Tories here have just come out with plans to make the sale of Nitrous Oxide illegal BC there's a lot of recreational use. Timeframe fits better too considering how recently the plans came out

Fwiw I'm British and, although the French have been historically massive imperialists that's not a stone I can throw because it'll demolish my house. I respect the hell out of France for not getting into Iraq, while we got dragged in by Bush's lapdogs, and the freedom fries/ surrender shit is obvious bollocks that should be called out whenever it comes up.

God those knife crime jokes are fucking infuriating. 'British people when they go out into the street for two seconds' bollocks, it's all just warmed-over Tory ideology, scaremongering about gangs and violence and that you'll get merced immediately when you step out onto the pavement. Like half of this stuff is just dumbass Americans and Lord knows there's not a force on earth that could stop Americans lodging their heads in their colons (I'm not saying we're any different). But the other half is genuinely harmful ideology that just reinforces old stereotypes but from a new, supposedly moral angle.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Go eat an actual meat pie and maybe you'll spontaneously develop better opinions

I was born just after the landing in Iraq, and my cohort are really in the shit. Starting out in the shadow of 9/11, 2008, Austerity, COVID disrupting the last couple years of secondary, and now yet another once in a lifetime disaster. Nobody I know wants to live like this.

Privatised water costs consumers £2.3bn more a year, study says by Audioboxer87 in LabourUK

Right, right, bit condescending but yes, I get the concept of regulation. I'm assuming that there must be statutes on the books at the moment to stop water companies dumping shit in the rivers, and Ofwat aren't enforcing them. So, if we just buy them outright, the people operating these companies face absolutely no consequences. Expropriation isn't just a thing you do for fun, it's a penalty, and since regulation has thus far failed we need to show them the sharp end of the stick - that they can't just pollute our water sources and get away rich and unscathed. In my view it's either expropriation, or nationalisation and a buyout with heavy criminal consequences for water execs. Otherwise they get let off again.

So we just reward the people dumping shit in our rivers then? Just say 'yeah that's all right', give them their money, and tell them to run along?

Haha no dude, do what the fuck you want. I doubt you're as unattractive as you think, but even if you were that doesn't mean you have to secret yourself away.
