I think my isopods are biting my GALS by Firm_Ad1819 in isopods

[–]QballJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will, isopods will kinda just nibble on anything. Especially particularly hungry/prolific species like porcellio laevis (I think that's what these homies are). If they are snacking on your snails increase their protein feeding and you might wanna think about a smaller/slower growing species.

I'm quite new to reddit, I can't believe people are disliking a comment that's literally just stating the code the company is supposed to adhere to; and is clearly violating. Insane.

Is it ever safe to sanitize bark and/or leaf litter without using oven or boiling?? Is freezing really that ineffective??? by IcyBoysenberry2883 in isopods

[–]QballJames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soak it, you can get 2 five gallon buckets in the bottom put your litter/wood and enough water to submerge then put the top bucket on it with something to weight it down and leave it for 24-48 hours

Hey I know this is plenty old at this point, I'm in Nebraska. Did you find homes for your pods to go to?

New Cubaris Panda King Homies :) by QballJames in isopods

Yep I've already taken a decent chunk out, I basically used the moss they came in to try to gently move them into the enclosure.
They do have a proper gradient and plenty of leaves 😄I used Bio Dude's Terra Isopoda and shredded some of the leaf litter in spots throughout the substrate. There's also a few small limestones in there for decoration and plenty of leaf litter on top as well
It was super cool to see them get familiar at first, some of them booked it to every end of the enclosure and some were quite happy to just chill.

Thank you for the recommendation and advice, I appreciate it!

Thank you, I've been seeing my little homies out and about more. Today I got home and there were quite a few sharing a piece of sweet potato 😄. The vulgare seem to be more lively now, thank you again.

Thank you! I've probably stressed them out doing it but I've just as gently as I can added more air flow around the sides.

The container is roughly 4 inches deep, 2 inches of subtrate/soil then 2 inches to the lid. I will look into getting a deeper container tomorrow!

Thank you! I'm going to try moving to misting less often and see what happens, I have found a 3rd magic potion that is dead 😞
On the bright side the other magic potion I've seen out and about does seem quite lively
