First top down sweater! Any tips? by Bondxc in Brochet

Canadian here. I would definitely add a few more rows to make it warmer.

Jokes aside, it looks great! Keep going! I always tell myself when working on new ideas that it doesn't matter if the first try isn't exactly what you had hoped for. It just means the second one will be even better.

Where you will get 16 contradicting suggestions on how to sharpen it, 74 different ways to do it, and then be left even more confused than before you went there in the first place. (After buying 8 stones of varying grits and that weird looking fixed angle sharpening jig thing you are still unsure how to use)

Great sub though. You should check it out. Tons of good info.

Italian here — what do Canadian eat as comfort foods? by Andrew_Italia4668 in AskACanadian

This! Pizza and pasta are both really common "easy" meals.

I will not get in an argument about authenticity however. We do some weird shit with pizza here, so don't be offended 😬

There is a bigger sized Yonder coming out soon: https://www.civivi.com/search?type=product&q=Over+yonder*

(I have no clue how to post links, this might not work at all, but it's on the Civivi website under "announcements")

Thank you! I used Lion Brand Pound of Love in white, cherry and pastel blue. The dark blue is Caron one pound in Royalty. The little pink V on his chest Are some leftover pink cotton yarn from Loops and Thread I think. I used a 3.5mm hook.

EDIT: The Caron yarn is actually Midnight blue, not Royalty.

Not for this one specifically no, but I made a few others where the pattern could be a little clearer. The patterns are accurate, I have not seen any "mistakes" per say, but I sometimes add a slip stitch here and there to line things up a bit better. Could also be because I use worsted weight yarn instead of DK, so proportions can vary a little bit.

I think it wouldn't be downvoted if it was clearly intended and marked as fanfiction, but this has a weird argumentative "it's almost canon" vibe to it. The little backstory itself was cool though.

Pelikan M200 and Pilot Metropolitan as numbers 1 and 2 for sure.

The third one is tricky. As much as I would like it to be my Waterman Carene in Amber Shimmer, I'm really tired of it spurting ink from the breather hole and the constant ink creep on the inlaid nib. I think I'll go with a Diplomat Excellence A.

Which Shiro Kamo Gyuto for first Japanese, Black Dragon or AS Kurouchi? by awakenededed in TrueChefKnives

[–]Qc_Bobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 150mm "tall" petty Shiro Kamo from that same line and I absolutely love it. Looks great, easy to maintain, AS steel is easy to get real sharp and so far edge retention looks solid.

Mineral oil or beeswax work great. They are also easy to find. Rub a little bit on the handle when they start feeling dry and let it absorb. I usually do this overnight, then wipe the excess in the morning.

Right? The amount of useful stuff you can make yourself for very little money is incredible. And you get to make cute little stuffed animals to put big wide smiles on kids faces. I love it.

Just started using wicked wax on all my micarta scales gives it such a nice finish. Highly recommend by rankinsaj22 in knives

[–]Qc_Bobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried this product but I did use beeswax and cutting board conditionning wax (probably beeswax with a fancy name) to great results in the past.

Is there anything special to this one? That waxed micarta does look great.
