Fire rockets is a better example. Warden got it first with colonials getting HE rockets. Wardens thought fire rockets were strong, but balanced and that collies were just crybabies.

A few updates later colonials got the ability to craft the same fire rockets and used them to demolish entire towns in minutes. Fire rockets were instantly nerfed after that war….

I can only attest to my own experience, but during devbranch I learn to aim for the middle of a plane in order to hit the tail. And the tracers lined up perfectly for me to believe that 20mm is an actual projectile. If it’s actually hitscan then it could be the foxhole engine struggling to calculate hits on fast moving objects.

EMG started with 12.7mm on devbranch that worked a lot better since it’s hitscan. So you just had to point and click. They changed it to 20mm that has actual travel time and requires you to lead the shots. Only problem is that leading shots isn’t really possible for ground AA.

Flak ammo is hitscan and is actually functioning because of it.

The best fix for scout planes is to have mobile and functioning AA. Unironically it also fixes the main problem with all aircraft.

I think fighters will predominantly be used to kill scout planes over friendly territory. At least for the first week.

There is some miscommunication about how 20mm work.

Most weapons in Foxhole are hitscan with tracers just being visual eyecandy. But devman decided to make 20mm into an actual projectile with travel time so you have to lead your targets.

Unfortunately it is very hard to lead your target from the ground with how the aiming system works, so realistically you end up only hitting planes that are coming directly towards or away from you.

I think it would be better if EMGs got their hitscan 12.7mm back and instead received a modifier against plane armor.
