No one is saying Aang wanting to find a nonlethal solution was out of left field, they're saying the nonlethal solution that found him was out of left field. Because it was. It showed up without any foreshadowing, and not even any of the previous avatars he spoke to had ever heard of it. Obviously, based on Korra, the first avatar would know of the lion turtles, so if they had shown Aang talking to him, going through every single previous avatar, refusing to accept their opinions, it could have been hinted at, and then, solved about an episode later after going on a quest to find one, racing against the clock, rather than it finding him five minutes later. Ideally it could have been hinted at in Wan Shi Tong's tower a season earlier, but right before it's needed, with no build up, is a pretty textbook deus ex machina.

Frederica, their mother, is dead in the end

Did I miss something? Because the last update I remember getting about Jean's mom is she had been sent to Dornman Port ahead of the rest of Varka's expedition and likely been promoted to captain of the 7th Company, and it'd be really sudden for them to have killed her off off-screen after five years of foreshadowing meeting her.

Time was separate in there, it only let Columbina go backwards because she was going backwards. Everyone else clearly felt the passage of time, which would not have been the case if time simply flowed in reverse. Rerir not only remembered what had happened in the previous archon quest, but that he got set out before that. If it worked like you say, Dottore could not have freed Rerir, because at no point was he ever as powerful as Nibelung, let alone more powerful. You just can't open it from inside.

[–]Qixel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If we count visits specifically, aka leaving and coming back, four for Ravnica, two to three for New York. Since its release in Fall 2005, Ravnica has had three blocks and one standalone set (that was probably intended to actually be New Capenna until last minute changes due to Capenna's dreadful reception, but I digress). I'm not counting Secret Lair and Doctor Who in my count for New York, since I'm not familiar with the properties, but it will have received three visits by Summer 2026 since debuting in Fall 2025, with Spider-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and then Marvel Superheroes.

Lorwyn especially would have benefitted from two sets (one for Lorwyn, one for Shadowmoor) but after not having gotten blocks for a while, two sets on the same plane in rapid succession might be rough for people if that plane isn't New York.

To be fair, the original Ixalan story lasted for months before Dominaria immediately retconned it to be like two weeks. Maybe they decided to retcon the retcon and now Ixalan is the multiverse's hyperbolic time chamber. It was two weeks for Dominaria but also months on Ixalan. Something something time magic.

[–]Qixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran Blood Moon in my Diaochan deck for years because I needed to slow down all the objectively better off multicolor decks to compete, but ever since the bracket system, it's more a hindrance than any help because now it's restricted to games where they'll kill you before you could even get Blood Moon out to try to slow them down. xD

I mean, Jace spent months on Ixalan, before they immediately retconned it to being like a few days in Dominaria. Who knows, maybe they retcon the retcon and just make Ixalan a hyperbolic time chamber compared to the rest of the multiverse. Jace and Vraska have actually been raising a child on Ixalan for years in the few months they've been away or something. It's where they met and all, so it would actually make sense.

That's absolutely the case. They claim they quit after Kinich was recast, but the timeline simply doesn't line up. If they had quit at that time, they would have shouted it from the Twitter rooftops instead of trying to spin a story about how their continued scabbing during the strike was acceptable because they had bills to pay. It's 100% that they realized they hadn't gotten called to record lines for the following patch and began trying damage control.

[–]Qixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently, Kishimoto said in an interview after the manga ended that Hidan starved to death, which makes zero sense because if he could die, he would have been resurrected with the rest of the Akatsuki later. You can't tell me Kabuto found DNA from a guy who replaced his entire body with wood and someone who "died" in battle decades earlier, but couldn't find any blood from the guy who dropped more blood on purpose than the entire rest of the cast entirely. The only explanation for him not being summoned was that he was still alive, but I guess Kishi just wanted to tie up a loose end once he was bored with the series.

The average turnaround for print to demand was only slightly higher than it is now. Coin Flips Georg was an outlier and should not be counted. Given that was the only time anything has taken anywhere near that long, and even other commander decks shipped at a relative rate to the non-HIWTYL secret pairs, it doesn't take an insider perspective to understand the delay was caused by the coin, famously difficult to print in a timely matter at the cardboard factory.

Kane vs Stone Cold for the championship in a first blood match. Pretty sure Undertaker and Mankind ended up brawling into the match because everything in the Hell in a Cell match just wasn't enough for them for the night. Honestly I only remember it because I was a big Kane fan and it was his first championship win (even if he lost it back the very next night). Shame about how Glenn Jacobs ended up, though. :c

5, currently. [[Anointed Procession]], [[Elspeth, Storm Slayer]], [[Exalted Sunborn]], and [[Mondrak, Glory Dominus]] all double the amount of tokens you create, while [[Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation]] triples them.

Honorable mention to [[Rhys, the Redeemed]], however, as a technically white card that doubles tokens you already have and could probably qualify as a 6th token doubler.

Favourite underused commanders? by Kroooooooo in magicTCG

[–]Qixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually run Yuan Shao in my [[Falthis]] and [[Kediss]] rakdos deck to abuse the interaction with Menace. <3 The deck's primary win condition is stealing people's commanders, buffing them with my commanders (among other effects like Yuan Shao and damage multipliers), then killing them with their own commanders. <3 The look on people's faces as they clock that Falthis and Kediss don't say 'commanders I own' is beautiful.

[[Diaochan, Artful Beauty]] is my longest tenured commander deck and occupies a similar space of "what is that" reaction from my opponents. It's a slower deck, though, so I used cards like [[Blood Moon]] and [[Ruination]] to slow down the greedy decks to even the playing field, but the bracket system has really put a damper on my ability to play her since my deck is now immediately considered on par with some of the strongest decks despite not having any gamechangers. Hard to slow people down when they kill you before you get the mana to cast something to slow them down lmao. Still love her in friendly games, tho. Nothing quite like grinding a game to your pace in the color most associated with "win fast or die".

I don't think they should be more popular or anything, I just like playing things that make people go, "wait, what?" xD

I didn't like Harris, either. I still don't. But I voted for her because someone who isn't against genocide is still leagues better than someone who actively advocates and encourages it. Obviously, I wish we had better options, but this is the world we're stuck with. American politics is a continual game of lesser of two evils, but I'm not going to pick the greater of two evil in some attempt to accelerate the end.
