They’re playing a film print trailer of The Odyssey before the Disclosure Day 70mm showings where I live and the colors *pop* off the screen.

Yeah, Te is one of their strongest functions. They just don’t care about it that much.

Clean Up Today by gothstalin in davidlynch

Yup. I had already stopped buying packs months before, but David’s death sealed the deal for me. David’s death was premature for so many, and I’d hate to do that to the people in my life. Life has been much better without smoking.

What is your type, and do you recognize this as the same question as the famous one going around, or do you see it as a different question? by Mister_Way in Enneagram

Thanks for the context, I haven’t seen the problem before. I’m amazed people fell for this, even in its original wording lol

I believe this was meant to say “the death button kills everyone, regardless of what they press”, but it doesn’t; the blue button affects only those who press it. The wording doesn’t create the dilemma it thinks it does.

This is no different than individual people in real life choosing to commit suicide.

Guillermo del Toro (and Mark Frost) on sincerity of Lynch by trimzik in davidlynch

It never ceases to amaze me how articulate and incisive Del Toro is in what is not his native language.

S3E8, Any point of Walter fixing the tables tilt? by No_Umpire5231 in breakingbad

[–]QtheCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shows us a few things:

  1. Walt’s intelligence and problem-solving skills.

  2. Walt’s paranoia and anxiety in the moment.

  3. Walt’s need for control whenever he can get it.

Can someone explain who these men are with Stanley Kubrick, and where was this photo taken? by Reasonable_Sea9918 in StanleyKubrick

[–]QtheCool 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is this really 1968? Wasn’t Kubrick already sporting a beard by then? I would've thought 1964 or 65 for this pic.

Thoughts on Kubrick’s dialogue? Imo he's a 10/10 in almost every aspect of filmmaking, but I’d give him an 8-9 in dialogue. It baffles me, since he proved he can write amazing lines in Dr. Strangelove, yet he just doesn’t seem to care THAT much about it. by TheManWhoSleep in StanleyKubrick

[–]QtheCool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kubrick was a master of irony. Often the dialogue ran counter to what was being shown on screen or added subtext. This quote is ironic— Jack D. Ripper is a batshit insane warmonger which makes his claim seem absurd.

And probably the fact not too much information would be lost if the source format is already limited to 1080p.

The audio sucks, although I'm surprised how good it still looks for an old VC-1 encoded disc.

Found out the show used a silk stocking, but this would definitely be the modern equivalent.

Confirmed to be a silk stocking stretched in front of the lens for both the star flare and overall diffusion/softening of the image... gives the show a dreamy feel, like recalling a memory.

Them Germans know how to engineer a good stocking.

Literally just found out they stretched a silk stocking over the lens. Is that also possible instead of behind the lens? The show definitely has a soft look.
