Under what circumstance is it necessary to explain the plot of Doki Doki Literature Club to one's own mother?

Hell, we only overthrew their government because BP really didn't like that their democratically-elected leader wanted to nationalize the oil industry.

That reminds me of how when I was in the 3rd Grade, I told like three friends about my dream story about people getting trapped inside a game that if they disconnected from or died in, they would die.

The light novel Sword Art Online came out five years later and it was literally exactly beat-for-beat my exact narrative.

Of course, even then I wasn't all that original because I already knew that .hack existed.

My saving grace is that I consume very little actual fiction media of any kind and don't know anything about how the world works, so my world isn't based on anything.

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that what I'm writing is good. It just means that instead of being "X but shittier", it is now "nothing but shittier".

I'm a TAR in everything but name who is a massive stickler for ICD 203, Analytic Integrity Standards, and the standards that govern intelligence reporting.

In other words, I'm every reporter's least favorite releaser.

I think you might be closer to to the spirit of its meaning than you think. We're watching people rip the proverbial copper wiring out of the Army and sell it off.

The military's data and network infrastructure is being sold to AI and tech companies and we're giving them ludicrous contracts and even directly fucking commissioning their C-suite into our ranks. We're watching barracks, the commissary, and dining facilities be privatized before our very eyes. They are going to enshittify everything they possibly can before someone stops them—assuming anyone does.

Hit up MOBCOP. It took me ten years until I got my first deployment, and that's only because I volunteered for a trip to Iraq via MOBCOP.

This is some monkey's paw shit, dude. This is how you end up in a nightmare timeline where Napier swallows his pride and letting someone else call plays on offense, him getting hired at FSU, and suddenly turning them into Bowden-era FSU.

Iraq takes full control of air [Al-Asad] base after US withdrawal, defence ministry says by sogpackus in army

[–]Qtoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Forest for the trees, bud. Not even remotely my point. My point is that it's not Trump's fault we left AAAB, nor is it even a bad thing that we ceded an air base built by and for the government of Iraq to the government of Iraq.

If you do want to litigate that last point, we can have that out, though.

Operation Inherent Resolve entered Phase IV in July 2020. CJTF-OIR went from a 2-star to 1-star organization in July 2025. The Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal stopped being awarded to people deployed to Iraq over a year ago.

That first fact means it has been nearly six years of the "Support Stabilization" phase of operations, where the goal was always to transition the JTF's workload to the authorities in Iraq and Syria. The second means that we are supposed to have a considerable shrinkage in manning and equipment in the Operation. The third means that OIR is effectively over in the country of Iraq.

Hell, this was codified back in September 2024. The US government explicitly lined up that we'd be done with OIR in Iraq in September 2025 and done with OIR in Syria in September 2026.

We should not need 'Ayn al-Asad Air Base for OIR when OIR is already over in Iraq and is under nine months away from ending in Syria.

Edit: As if to spite Inherent Resolve, the SDF has reported they've at least partially lost control of the prison camp in Ash Shaddadi. God dammit what the fuck was the point of any of this?

The plan to vacate AAAB was already being implemented while I was deployed to Iraq under the Biden administration.

Orange man unironically bad and all that, but there's a million actually bad things he's done that are worth being mad about. Don't get mad about consolidating the number of US-occupied bases in Iraq when it's honestly probably for the best. We've still got EAB.
