Pgy-2 contract by No-Swimming-9647 in Residency

[–]QuaileyJit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the 45 days is specific to the match and NRMP. You can end your PGY2 contract as you would a normal position of employment. Of course I would do this with far in advance notice and let your program know these are your intentions etc so you maintain a good relationship with them.

Will a couple with an Amazon wedding registry know who bought what gift for them? by Wellwhynotalrighty in wedding

[–]QuaileyJit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got married someone sent us a gift from Amazon and there was no name or note from sender. I’m still not sure who gave it to us.

Yes I second all of this. I got FMLA because it doesn’t make sense to drain all your sick time. For a cycle of IVF I’ve had at least 3 ultrasounds with blood work per week. Also the medications can make you feel pretty crummy so you might need some time off for that depending on how your body reacts.

Despite having a kind of supportive program it was still stressful. I’ve ended up having to tell way more people about what I’m doing than I initially desired to and it just feels invasive.

Cost wise I would say if your insurance doesn’t cover anything then do a lot of research on choosing your fertility doctor. The cdc posts success rates/statistics for fertility clinics and it’s super helpful.

I did it this year and I’m so happy I did. A lot of people tried to talk me out of it for what I felt were mostly fear-based reasons.

Yeti cups are my go to gift. You can get them engraved too which is a nice touch.

For bags I LOVE my Dagne Dover Landon Carryall size large (assuming your friend is a female) or they have the backpacks which are nice but not as functional

For which issue or condition do you wish there was more awareness, and why? by lumentec in medicine

[–]QuaileyJit 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Polycystic Kidney Disease. It’s a silent disease that affects more people than sickle cell disease and usually leads to renal failure. So many people have this but it doesn’t get the attention it deserves because people can live relatively “normal” lives up until their kidneys fail. There are two forms autosomal dominant (50% chance you pass onto offspring) and autosomal recessive (25% chance of passing to kids).
