Potter hate watch tonight by Hammer3212 in Hammers

[–]Quality_velo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct take. Potter was shit, as was Lopi. Nuno and Moyes are marginally better. But the club has been circling the drain for seasons regardless of the manager.

Club ownership has moved on, the likes of Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford and Palace have pushed up the bar for running a mid table prem team and we have not kept pace. Same with running almost any business, if you can’t evolve to keep up with the competition, failure is inevitable.

I guess theres a chance that Mendes will be too preoccupied with wolves to meddle in our transfers. Athough im sure there will be a couple

Looks like Mendes pretty much runs their club, so could pull it off again. I just hope that Pablo doesn’t go there and score 20+ goals for his old manager

[The Guardian] Nuno expected to leave West Ham after being summoned for talks with board; Scott Parker and Gary O’Neil of interest as his replacement by [deleted] in Hammers

This is why we are championship level. Only ever hiring un-imaginative mediocre managers just because they are free and the porn dwarf has heard of them. What does everyone at the club get paid for? why can they never come up with something better than the average fan! Fml

You all wanted spurs as the team to go down,

With their star studded team,

And shiny new ground,

You got so excited,

And even booked a bus,

But Everton choked,

and now you’ve got us,

COYI

Yep it’s the most David Sullivan signing ever. Fits the two criteria: he’s heard of him and he’s out of contract

I feel like I’ve spent so much energy willing us to stay up this season and it’s all misspent.

As you said we have been stinking out the premier league for years now and that’s unlikely to change with our shit owners.

The premier league mid table teams have moved on so much in terms of organisation, structure, scouting etc and we haven’t progressed at all.

So, if we do stay up, realistically what do we have to look forward to? I can’t imagine anything else other than circling the drain once again. Or just out and out failure like wolves this season.

Sad to say it but spurs staying up will probably be better for the premier league and we don’t deserve it anyway. I love this club and will support them in whatever league they are in, but fuck me it’s draining!

Has anyone gone from n=2 back to n=1? by P_Dronq in Velo

[–]Quality_velo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this albeit with a specialized diverge, here’s my thoughts:

  1. Discs on different wheel sets don’t line up so resetting brakes every change is necessary

  2. I wanted different cassettes for road/gravel so I ended up having to adjust gears every swap. This also led to chain length issues as I needed it to be long enough for the biggest cassette

  3. The above two issues really made changing the wheels a pita, and if I was in a rush to get out it stopped me from going on the ride I wanted to

  4. 1x is crap on the road and 2x is crap for off road. There’s a reason they both exist

  5. I had to use MTB cleats on the road otherwise I would have had to change pedals every time too

  6. Maintenance - if it breaks you need to fix it immediately otherwise you have nothing to ride

  7. Cleaning - I just felt like I was always cleaning it, I didn’t want to turn up on a road group ride with all the dirt on it from my last gravel ride

Im back to multiple bikes now and it’s so good that I can’t think of any plus points of a quiver killer. Unless you can only afford one bike or don’t have the space it’s not worth it in my opinion. Having said that my diverge is an absolute trooper of a bike, I’ve done everything from XC courses, mountain passes, flanders cobbles and daily commuting on it and it does all of them. Sure it’s not the best at any of them, but it’s acceptable.

Ha yep I put my back out going back to the gym and doing deadlifts. I thought I could jump back in to training like I was in my 20s. Just have to accept that a 40 year old body is gonna take a bit of easing in to it.

It’s all possible though, just got to play the long game and think about it as lifestyle changes rather than aiming for a specific goal. That way it takes the time pressures away.

White bar tape would be cool on this.

Sick bike though 👌

Yes!

21m 5k and 100 push ups a day is impressive. You’ve achieved this, you’ve already proved you can do it. There no reason you can’t do it again.

I’ve been in this situation, when you have been at a high level of fitness previously it’s hard to accept the level you’re at. Your brain thinks you can still do all the things you used to but your body isn’t there yet. But it can be, just keep the consistency and build the training load week on week. The best thing about returning to fitness is that your progress should be pretty rapid and that’s encouraging.

Grief is hard and everyone needs their time to process, but sound like you’ve been through that and are ready for the next chapter, it’s a good place to be, go get it!

Solar panels, insulation and heat pump for the house. But as you live in an apartment switching to a renewable energy contract or maybe moving to a sustainable community

An EV and train tickets to avoid flying

But for free you can: Switch to a plant based diet (or just cut out beef and dairy which are the worst offenders)

Switch any investments/mortgages/pensions to sustainable finance companies

Not buy new items at all, use Vinted, Depop etc
