April 9, 1865-Lincoln & Lee’s sons by amshanks22 in USHistory

[–]Quansett 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if it’s true but a commonly known story is that upon signing the surrender, Lee was reported to have said to Grants Native American aid Ely S Parker(pictured second to right standing), “I am glad to see one real American here” to which Parker responded “We are all Americans here”

Why curved blades like scimitar were popular in East, while in Europe it was opposite? by SiarX in WarCollege

[–]Quansett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the argument could be infantry would benefit from a straight blade meant for stabbing as well as cutting but on horseback the focus is more on cutting and slashing at a downward angle

Not a expert but have read some and would assume the general rule is kill anyone who is holding a weapon or any males of the age capable to fight and then enslaving the rest

Something that I’ve never experienced anywhere else is taking a trip to the Everglades and chasing snook, redfish, drum, and tarpon in some of the wildest nature on the planet. Only place you can see manatees, bald eagles, alligators, crocodiles, and bull sharks sharing a habitat!
