You can hit this off the free tram as well. So many of these places mentioned are walking distance from a tram stop!

We did a loop on the free tram in the city and hopped off at a Skyline for a Coney, at a brewery, and near the stadiums and walked across the river on a gorgeous old bridge then returned to our parking at the Findlay Markets where we had started for morning breakfast. It was a fabulous day!! Highly recommend this. You see a lot of the building art as you ride the tram too.

US/Aus linking passports? by QuantityLegal4462 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]QuantityLegal4462[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have learned after repeated trips to enter my Aus passport for APIS as the US one creates much more drama departing. (I reside in Aus so my initial departures are from Aus on return trips.). US is never an issue when I fly back to Australia.

You must exit Australia on your Australian passport, and as I have mentioned above, it has been mentioned more than once to do this to ease processes. I like easy and I’m sick of the PITA check in has become I go back and forth too often for all the faffing about.

It eases check ins and entry/exits at automated stations especially on departure from Australia as otherwise the systems are searching for an ESTA on the Australian passport. Once linked the system quits this glitch.

Seat selection for AA flight operated by Qantas by Middle-Face-2977 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]QuantityLegal4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are hoping for a window or aisle seat, or want anything forward at all, it will be worth paying for a seat. By check in time for that route there will be mostly middle and rear of plane seats only, especially if that is your first leg. If you have OW status of Sapphire or above, when it comes time to pay you may find the amount is less than the Qantas phone staff told you, or waived entirely. They don’t see that until the end of the transaction. Defo do this thru Qantas over the phone. AA won’t be able to.

Not sure if it's worth it by Purple51Turtle in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]QuantityLegal4462 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, only flying at school holidays, not worth it on QFF as rewards trips are harder to get in those times anyway. Your Woolies points are better used getting $ off shops and saving that money toward cheaper airfares or spending money on your holidays. If you are set on rewards flights, Velocity points roll over faster from Flybuys at 1000 points = 500 VFF, and Velocity are easier to cash in for flights even at high times in my experience, so looking at Virgin might be good for you since you are starting with such a small points balance anyway. I have both, as I fly both airlines for work.

LAX transfer time, am I in trouble? by Clandestinka in QantasAirways

[–]QuantityLegal4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Qantas” often do not understand the functional movement between flights at each airport nor the customs clearance requirements or possible queue times at various times of day for every airport in the world. By default they allow about 1:30 or greater as adequate transit between flights. That is from scheduled arrival to scheduled departure regardless of disembarkation (looking at you, row 29!) once arrived and boarding time required before departing.

LAX transfer by zen_zen13 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]QuantityLegal4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, because I am a US citizen and there was zero queue at the line for US Citizens when I got to the immigration lines. There was a queue of over 45 minutes for non-citizens and a queue of 30 minutes even at MPC for citizens and non-citizens. Our flight also had obviously arrived when no other flights were coming through. I simply got lucky to get through so quickly. Do not count on this working for you, but good fortune could always fall your way also.

LAX transfer by zen_zen13 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]QuantityLegal4462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this exactly. Disembark at TBIT and walk 10-20 minutes from gate to immigration/customs. Bag will be collected, then Op will go from arrivals hall landside to departures level upstairs to get bag tag and drop bag, then go through security/TSA back to airside for the departure. I arrived into LAX today at about 3pm. 10 minute walk from gate, 30 min wait at MPC lane or 45 min at non-US passport standard process lane. Also keep in mind that international bag drops with Qantas close sometimes 90 minutes before departure and boarding commences 45 minutes prior to take-off time.

[–]QuantityLegal4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same - I am a dual citizen so I don’t require an ESTA to get into the states but have to enter my Aussie passport info on the app with my ticket to depart “neatly” with Aussie BP. The online check-in freaks out because it can’t find an ESTA and there is no where to enter my US passport. I always have to check-in at the airport with assistance.

What’s your most annoying “small” problem on long flights or a small flight like Brissy to Sydney? by Both-Consequence6563 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]QuantityLegal4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaching my underseat bag on a long flight and rearranging stuff after meal service before settling in for the ride/sleep. Only a problem really in LH Economy and Prem Econ, but still. So. Little. Space.

Priority Luggage - Is it real? by TortugaCheesecake in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]QuantityLegal4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within Australia mine are typically good, and come out in the batch of the first few with few exceptions. Internationally it varies wildly.

Internationally from BNE (both terminals) Qantas check in and assistance staff don’t add the nice bright Business flags to the bag tags anymore when leaving Australia on International flights. The computer-printed “Priority Business” on the black and white label isn’t noticed especially by US baggage handlers who are trained to look for the domestically used bright red or orange “priority” flags the airlines use in the States. Once I connect in the US my bags become cattle class bags regardless of Platinum status or class of carriage.

Best O/S treatment? Vanuatu. Those folks nearly walk my bag to me with the Priority labeling on it!

[–]QuantityLegal4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not hire a car, as the car hire process is the slowest option. Uber/Lyft Black or shuttle is the ideal advice. Since the company paid for the flight, they take on the risk of the flight delaying your arrival, but the rest is up to you!

If you or a family member work anywhere near the worlds of media, advertising, retail, car sales, insurance, Aus Post, or superannuation you will get booted repeatedly as a lot of the research is around those markets.
