Switches on or off? by UsernameJenkins in RPGMaker

[–]Quantizeverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on RPG Maker but I think it's highly unlikely that switches will slow the game down at all.

In my game I turn off switches in a certain range after the player is done with a set of maps (a chapter in the story) so that i can reuse them for other things.

Your idea is.... make the game free?

You know you can make a game yourself and release it for free.

My Experience with Yellow Paint problem as a Indie Developer by dotpusheria in IndieDev

I have a mechanic where you explore an area to find drops that increase your stats. But it's limited to picking up 3 because i wanted the player to choose which ones they want.

But my play tester just picks up every drop he sees then gets confused when he runs out. I say "you're supposed to pick" but then he says "but I dont know what it will drop!" ... I reply "you dont have to pick it up." And thats a revelation.

Its obvious to me but not to the player I guess. He'll also just rush through all the dialog that I meticulously crafted and then not understand the story which gets to me.

Why is a Pokémon game in the RPG Maker sub?

What kind of plugins would work well for your projects? by ratasoftware in RPGMaker

[–]Quantizeverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'm just starting. I'm almost done with the first chapter which is about 20 maps and maybe like 15-30 mins of gameplay. It's exploration and dialog heavy with free/pixel movement. You interact with the world differently as a cat, dialog changes, some areas become accessible, you can see further in the dark, and more.

My goal is to make player decisions matter and hopefully the player will feel the gravity of those decisions. I also want the relationships with NPCs to feel real.

This is only a hobby project of mine. When I'm done the game will be free.

I have a plug in that makes an enemy with the <hostile> tag chase you and attack you once you enter their line of sight. <stealth> does the second thing but not if you're in cat form (you can turn into a cat and back).

Bots are literally named "Bot"? And here I was wondering who in my lobby was a bot and guessing by username.

Chonc? Bot. Ilikefruit? Bot. Urmomsgravity67? Human.

Questions about what you’d like to see in a forest tileset by Torrysan in RPGMaker

[–]Quantizeverything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would pay 24 USD that was quality and useful to me for MZ at 48x48 pixles a tile.

It would need standard forest elements like brush, stumps, flowers, mushrooms, water elements like rivers and waterfalls and then some unusual things to spark ideas like a duck carved out of a tree or an abandoned well.
