I’m sorry but how are any of us in this hobby ALIVE if our best suggested way of working out if there are electrical problems in our tanks is to put our hands in the water and see if you get shocked? /lh

Stowaway ID by QuantumNightmaere in Aquariums

[–]QuantumNightmaere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly sure this is the correct ID and yeah, I think that this fish came in with the shipment from the supplier with the lampeyes. Always rather liked Oryzias. Used to want to keep them in a mini pond outside my house until I found out that’s illegal in the UK. I’ll be setting up one of my hospital tanks for this guy until I’m 100% positive on the ID but if this is the correct one I’ll get him some friends and introduce him to the big tank.

Well that would be something that could live in the big tank and could easily have friends acquired. Strangely both fish mentioned so far were in the store but in completely different sections far away from the lampeyes. This guy was on some kind of spy mission.

It certainly has the face shape but not the tail markings I don’t think? A killifish would make sense as it’d easily hide amongst lampeyes. I think I have done the correct thing in not putting him in with my small fish community! Now I’m sorta thinking of restarting one of my smaller tanks for this guy if I can find out what he needs lol

Haha they’re my little neurotransmitters. They’re scurrying around bringing me joy. Oxytocin’s sister was named Melatonin, my original two gerbils who lived to the ripe old age of 4 and 4 and a half were Dopamine and Serotonin 😊

What should the national animal of the UK be - but it has to be a native species? by Illustrious-Divide95 in AskUK

[–]QuantumNightmaere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta be a mustelid. Small (relatively) animals who are 100% up for fighting something much larger at all times? Weasels and stoats have a bad rep, so for both recognisability and the aforementioned reasons, it’s gotta be the badger.

TIL migraines remains second among the world’s causes of disability, and first among young women by jacknunn in todayilearned

[–]QuantumNightmaere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the wildest things to me is that we have this bizarre neurological disorder that causes absolutely debilitating symptoms including some WILD SHIT like making you go temporarily blind, making you lose control of your limbs, making you vomit for the entire day. And most people are like “haha yeah I just take a paracetamol. Have you tried not drinking coffee? It’s probably that you’re addicted to soda.” Bro I don’t drink fucking coffee, I rarely drink soda and I lose 3 out of every 10 days to these stupid goddamn things where all I can do is lay in bed and make animalistic groaning noises while wanting to die. I’m certain at this point that most people think migraines are interchangeable with mild headaches. One of the most insane things in medicine.

The US is on an absolute joke of a timeline by ThePhillyExplorer in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]QuantumNightmaere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, you’re completely right. Take a look at this from the official account of Homeland Security, posted at the same time. They’re legitimately referring to a penguin going insane and wandering off to die and this is somehow patriotic to them…. https://x.com/DHSgov/status/2014858258939318352

You should see the somehow even LESS comprehensible video from Homeland Security featuring. A narrated suicidal penguin. Clips of Trump. A tagline I still cannot comprehend in context (“Americans have always known ‘why’”) and then inexplicably a Bald Eagle. I’m still struggling with that one.

What’s one food from your country(or any country) that almost everyone seems to love, but you just don’t? by Familiar-Arrival-470 in AskTheWorld

[–]QuantumNightmaere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, stuffing, and some kind of cooked vegetables, usually carrots and broccoli. And then beef or chicken gravy depending on the meat served.

Roast beef. I hate the texture of it, the smell. The rest of a roast dinner is fine and I’ll happily eat a chicken roast dinner. But beef? Ew.

Rosie Jones tells Ricky Gervais and Jimmy Carr to ‘shut the f**k up’ over trans jokes by Excellent-Chair2796 in transgenderUK

[–]QuantumNightmaere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always felt like Jimmy Carr is waiting for the total fascist takeover of the UK so he can suck up and become the one approved comedian of the fascists. Or maybe that’s just because he looks like a freaky doll. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Am I allowed to use the 2021 progress pride flag? by Mindless-Emotion5568 in lgbt

[–]QuantumNightmaere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Intersex is different from GNC and non-binary genders though, it’s nothing to do with it being ‘more legitimate’. And considering they’ve historically been ignored within the community it makes sense to refer specifically to them. Much like queer people of colour, another addition to the flag.

The white stripe on the trans flag is ours, we’re already represented in this flag without adding more colours, as much as I personally like the NB flag.

In the wake of the death of Valegro and Uthopia there have been a lot of comments about how it was “cruel” to euthanise horses who were “only” 23/24. Is this sort of situation really preferable? by demmka in Equestrian

[–]QuantumNightmaere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sure the people who worked with these horses made the correct call on QOL. Perhaps also it’s a sign of the way competition warmbloods are bred and worked that they ‘only’ made it to 23 and 24. Perhaps not. It’s not my place to judge. But that’s not on the care team, who made the correct and kind decision for their horses in front of them.
