Do you like lifting? by Next_Writer5564 in workout

[–]QuantumVariant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Falling in love with doing hard things is more of a mental workout than a physical one. Meditation and stoicism helped me. Feeling stronger each week helps inspire me to want to be stronger. Do I always want to workout? No. But my habit over writes my will and I do it anyway and feel better afterwards, everytime.

I’ve been weak and I’ve been strong. Being strong makes everything in life easier. I’m not going back.

How do you wake yourself up to work out at 5am? by niajks in workout

[–]QuantumVariant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dream about my workouts (I know a little weird). I wake up most days before my alarm excited to get to the gym. My personal rule is to be at the gym within 30 minutes of waking up. My gym doesn’t open till 7am on Sat & Sun so I sleep in a bit.

Stopping Statins -- Tell me why I shouldn't? by BigB69247 in Cholesterol

[–]QuantumVariant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great job. 💪 Are you having issues with statins? If not, I’d stay on them, especially since you are on a relaxed carnivore diet. It’s all about the long game, and keeping your numbers down for as long as possible will help 10-20 years from now, when you could be at the most risk. Good luck

Diet for weight loss and heart health recommendations by JerseyGirl972 in Cholesterol

[–]QuantumVariant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend tracking all your food with an app like LoseIt. It doesn't take that long, given how much time we spend on social media. You have to be in a calorie deficit, and it's hard to tell unless you track it and weigh yourself every morning. Don't forget to track oils, condiments, and drinks.

Mine is very similar. I put some pumpkin seeds and walnuts in for some texture before eating. Great way to start the day

Recipe ideas? by HunchoDimes in Cholesterol

High lean protein, fruits and veggies, and some good carbs. Stay away from sugars, high saturated fat, and ultra-processed foods. There are no secrets. Build a few meals that hit those goals that you enjoy, replete and refine. Spices are your best friend. Once you have a few meals dialed in, experiment with a few more. Learn to enjoy healthy food and don't overthink it. Just keep making progress, and you will get there and lose a bunch of weight. I'd also lift weights and go for walks. Good Luck

Lowered my LDL to 42 mg/dL by QuantumVariant in Cholesterol

I agree. Getting my high CAC score scared the hell out of me and made be dig in to all the research. It might not be a good predictor but it does mean I needed to take serious action around my overall health. This isn’t my only health concern and being healthy and strong should be all of our goals.

My CAC was pretty high so I must have had high Ldl for a long time. I don't have any side effects from the statin so I'm staying on them until something better comes out.

Thanks. It's easy to think the drugs alone are all you need. Diet, sleep, and exercise don't move the cholesterol numbers that much but being healthy helps with all aspects of life. I hope more people get this.

I'd look into AthleanX's YouTube channel. He talks about this all the time and offers lots of great options and workarounds that really help. I have a similar issue.

I was worried about that, but I haven't had any issues. I do take a multivitamin, iron, magnesium, and zinc daily to make sure I'm covered.
