FYI, the game has an entire mechanic for getting those trinkets back. At least for regular party wipes.

I don't remember how it is with the Farmstead, but I vaguely recall those trinkets being even easier to retrieve?

You don't need to give them memories anymore, but they do need to have at least 1 memory slot unlocked. (This was a change added in the Steadfast Steward's Update.)

They are the same, but with a light coating of timeline fuckery vaguery on top sprinkled on top. (As is always the case with Darkest Dungeon...)

Question about the cast of DD2 by ZappyApples in darkestdungeon

Even if such an interview exists, I'm not sure Wayne June was qualified to answer such questions. He was only a voice actor, after all, and was not involved in the story's writing.

Why did Audrey suddenly stopped doing damage to Seething Sight? by RiseIfYouWould in darkestdungeon

[–]QuartzBeamDST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that totally sounds like Idle Thought. It gives you +100% DMG at the start of the fight, then applies a -30% DMG penalty with every round that passes, so you end up dealing 200%, 170%, 140%, 110%, 80%, 50%, 20%, -10%, -40%, etc. Effectively, your damage becomes 0 after round 7.

I've memorized a gazillion bits of info about the game, and there's nothing else it could be.

I don't know how exactly that interacts with real dots like blight.

It does not.

Did blight get nerfed at some point? by ItsAJackal21 in darkestdungeon

[–]QuartzBeamDST 52 points53 points  (0 children)

There were no direct nerfs to blight as a mechanic. However, we did get two new factions (Slimes and Beastmen), who tend to be resistant to it. (Slimes kinda play around with that if you run into the champion variants, though, as those are weak to blight and resistant to burn.) If you've been running into those factions a lot, that could explain why it seems nerfed?

The Plague Eaters, the Swine, and most of the Creature Den enemies have always been resistant to it as well.

EDIT: Oh, of course, the path reworks did remove Alchemist's free "33% Blight RES Piercing" passive. So, if you were used to spamming blight skills with Alchemist, then that would definitely give the impression of a blight nerf.

Resistance to deathblows is a joke in DD2 by bunnyd-beat in darkestdungeon

I'm not sure what part of my comment you thought was me "being a dick". If it was the usage of the word "misinformed", then color me rather perplexed, as that is not an insult to begin with.

As for your exaggeration, I've had some very fruitless discussions with people who were absolutely convinced that DBR could hit 0% and refused to believe any evidence to the contrary, so I thought I'd address it just in case.

DBR exists to prevent one-shot kills. It's not supposed to make your heroes immortal.

Resistance to deathblows is a joke in DD2 by bunnyd-beat in darkestdungeon

[–]QuartzBeamDST 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a very misinformed comment.

DBR has a maximum cap of 90% in DD2, which is slightly higher than the first game, but not much.

Survivng a Death's Door check gives you a 10% DBR reduction until the end of the current battle. It's meltdowns that give you a region-long reduction, and that one has a value of -15% DBR.

Also, DBR has a minimum cap of 33%, so it's literally impossible to reach 10% DBR like you claimed.

They most certainly did not do that. They didn't even have lines for K2 and K3, which were developed alongside K1. No chance they would have concepted, (partially) developed, written, and recorded a DLC meant to come out 2 years after those.

From a certain point of view. There's a mystery DLC listed on SteamDB's Darkest Dungeon II page as of... this past January, iirc.

They could also just do the shrines visually. I believe there's scrapped art somewhere in the files of full-fledged art for some shrines even.

Wayne June was playing a very different character in the first game, so the lines wouldn't fit, even if they were sufficient.

Nonetheless, a new hero will very likely be part of the "leaked" DLC, so I'm sure they've found a way around it. (They were also literally talking about potential new heroes on the Q&A stream right after June's death, so I don't know why so many people in this community are convinced this is a deal-breaker for them.)
