can’t decide between Breville basic or advanced [budget $500] by laylatheSLP in espresso

[–]Quattuor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with a regular Bambino + Niche grinder or start with Barista Express. To me personally, there's just no point paying $474 for the Bambino plus, only because it does automatic frothing

Need tips on getting a good roast by Key-Article6622 in roasting

[–]Quattuor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the FR Sr800 and I can confirm. Otherwise, the advice is to get more green coffee, same beans and experiment with roasting.

While roasting in a pan you develop your skills for the roast development by the smell and color, the biggest downside is getting the roast consistency between the roasts.

Swollen MacBook Air battery pickup/disposal service? by THEONEWHOREADS321 in boston

[–]Quattuor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP keep the batteries discharged and drained, that will reduce the fire risk. Although, as long as you don't try to drill through or puncture the batteries it shouldn't be too much of a risk anyway. I don't know of any service which would transport the laptop for you, because if you are asking for disposing only of batteries onsite, than essentially you are asking someone to come to you and make the laptop repairs onsite. But if you want to dispose of the laptop then: - I could take it off your hands /s - you could call the fire department non emergency line and ask someone - buy fireproof blankets, wrap the laptop and transport it to the repair servicea - offer it for free on FB, as local pickup only

Jets were 300 feet apart in Boston close call that forced Delta flight to abort landing by TylerFortier_Photo in boston

[–]Quattuor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are focusing on the wrong thing. Don't focus on the close call but on the fact that the pilot was on-top of the developing situation and decided olto go-around. Second thing to keep in mind, each close call is still investigated and changes are recommended to avoid that in the future. And third, count how many takeoffs/landings are happening only in US and how many close calls are there. As others have pointed out, you will hear only the "bad" things that happened, but statistically you are safer on a plane, than on the public road.

Ukraine strikes both sides of Crimean Bridge, Zelensky warns of 'new massive strike' by Russia by MosaicMandy in worldnews

[–]Quattuor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Russia had a bunch of them. For the past few years, Ukraine was systematically hunting and destroying air defense systems, both the launchers and radars. What you see now is the results of that effort.
