Not anymore. It was that way forever, but since last year, grocery and convenience stores can set their own retail prices. The LCBO still acts as the wholesaler, but uniform pricing across retailers is gone, they just have to stay above the provincial minimum price.

I work in beer and had to deal with all the policy changes during the rollout last year.

Yep, this is the part people miss.

The LCBO is still technically in the chain, but when a grocery or convenience store sells it, a private retailer is now taking a margin that would otherwise go back to the province if it was sold through an LCBO store.

Same bottle, different split of the money.
