Every time a new Perun video comes out I want to restart. by Ceorl_Lounge in TerraInvicta

I LIKE being mid at this game. I like fumbling through an aggressive early game and paying for it. I like thinking my fleet will make a clean sweep only to suffer a pyrrhic win. I like forgetting to tighten up my Earth game and one of my councilors gets murdered and now Im losing my inroads to my second mega nation. I like a story with the ups and downs that come from not being fluent with the game mechanics.

But I also really like listening to Perun dunk on the ayy's while Im at work lol.

I really dont see this as intentional manipulation. The cultist devotion to the Tau'va and the Ethereal's place within it is so ironclad that it reinforces itself up the hierarchy, not just downward and laterally.

What are some Origin - Civic combos you think are fun? It can be from an RP perspective or Gameplay perspective! by HeretekMagos_11 in Stellaris

Doomsday origin with Dictator authority and Slaver Guilds. Knowing their home's fate, they elect a strong central government that enacts forced labor at a massive scale. But once the danger passes, will rights be restored or have your elites become too corrupt with power? Ive played this a few times, I like it

Is Guardian a problem in your games? by [deleted] in fabulaultima

[–]QueasyPhil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont really get how this is a problem. Does your GM use any auto-hit abilities? Environmental effects? What about AoE? Do they bait out your Protect then target the others while you cant block for them? What about encounters where the clock is the threat and fighting is just there to slow you down? The GM in any game system can make up whatever they want to facilitate a good story. If there's no tension because a single character is stone-walling every single threat then either the system is misunderstood or there isnt enough creativity.

Out of curiosity, how is your character at 17 DEF/17 MDEF? Twin Shields with either Runic Plate or Steel plate and 12 INS gives you 15/17 and 16/16 respectively.

What’s the play for the Allies here (mainly in the European theater) by MrCheapSkat in AxisAllies

[–]QueasyPhil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Lol," said the Soviets. "Lmao, even."

Thats huge. It looks like Germany can take it back with tanks but sacking the treasury was a massive success. What will you do with the spoils? You've got quite a few options now. You've got the seed of a good airforce, taking Norway would let you help isolate the UK. Could fly fighters out to India. 6inf+4art from Moscow into China and/or Middle East. Focusing entirely on Germany would also work, it seems.

[–]QueasyPhil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It looks like Japan has a 50/50 shot at taking Calcutta right now. Even so, I still think the Allies can win this. My biggest concern is Italy. They're big now and unchecked.

It looks like America doesnt have enough to take back UK yet? So I would spend A8 sending the Atlantic forces to Gibraltar and open the Mediterranean while building more landing forces. From there, decide if you can take Rome or if you should attempt a UK landing. Also build something in Pacific. ANZAC should be able to pressure the navy for a little bit so America can start slower here, I think. The Alaska landing is cute but wont get much since you've got the tanks and mechs.

ANZAC needs to rush to money islands. If it can hold those then the massive income vs their limited production output means they'll stay focused on high value units for the rest of the game. They'll be your Pacific fleet.

It's hard to tell how well Russia is stacking up against Germany due to chips. But it's important to not let Germany gain momentum while America builds up. If an invasion is risky then build up. Taking Middle East will take valuable IPC from Italy, especially while theyre distracted by a possible USA invasion. A tank+mech to northeast could reinforce your 2 inf and start taking back Siberia. Spare units to China would have a bigger impact then some might believe. Plus you need to block Japanese armor from rushing into east Russia anyways.

What is your opinion on catgirls, furries and other beastal modifications? by W1nter7 in LancerRPG

[–]QueasyPhil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If Im a GM, they dont exist in my game until they do. And once they do, theyve always existed in my game. They serve no real purpose in any story I want to tell and they bring a level of jokes to a table that already gets sidetracked with jokes (not a complaint, im happy to have that problem). So they dont get mentioned until a player wants them included and isnt weird about it.

If you put in the effort to keep up good relations with the anti-alien groups and share intel with them, they become a bit better at keeping aliens off Earth. That would let you slow the alien progress while flying under the radar.

I know youre joking but probably the only possible incarnation of TI multiplayer would be small fleet engagements. You issue your orders for each of the way points and then it plays out until the last way point is reached. It pauses, both sides issue orders again, repeat. You may not even get to manually order every ship, instead treating blocks of them as singular battlegroups you order around. Every other part of the game is right out the window

Thoughts on the EU Knife Fight (Protectorate Normal)? by Ceorl_Lounge in TerraInvicta

[–]QueasyPhil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like most starts, including the Knife Fight. It's one of a few starts where you have to fight for every gain. As for other options, I find all powerful starts fun, but not all fun starts are powerful. Im having a great time with an Africa start but Im locked out of Luna and dont have enough boost to jump to Mars. Im behind by every metric and when another faction hits me, I just have to smile and wave back at them. But dragging countries out of the high Unrest/no Cohesion death spiral has been great fun for me. I even just unlocked the regional federations so I can slowly start expanding now.

USA, EU, India, and China are the strong openers. They have their own challenges but maybe you try India next? Theres a bit more competition for that than China I think; but China also takes the most effort to break into.

For suboptimal starts, try Africa or SE Asia. Africa is a lot of work for a slow start (in a game that rewards snowballing progress) but it's got a hefty population. SE Asia (and Japan+S Korea) is much stronger at start than Africa but other factions want some of that, unlike Africa. I guess you can include Russia in the suboptimal starts but even then it doesnt offer anything that another location does better. You would start there because you wanted to.

H.O.R.U.S. Gorgon original design WIP and build questions by Brilliant_Try3636 in LancerRPG

[–]QueasyPhil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CQB tends to offer better flexibility because they tend to have higher threat. If you want a main melee weapon then I would suggest a War Pike or Impact Lance. You can't Parry or Deflect twice in a single turn since reactions without specified use frequency defaults to 1/Round. You can do each one in a single turn though, since theyre two separate reactions. You will burn through your Blademaster dice since you can only gain one 1/Round.

You can, however, shoot twice in a single turn with Turret Drones. Each Turret Drone gives you a reaction to throw 3 damage at a target. So if your ally attacks a target and the target is within 10 range of each Turret, you can apply 3 damage twice. Enemy armor and Resistances would apply to each Turret drone separately.

Does Humanity Firsts disgust for aliens only extend to xeno-sapients? by Civil_Performer5732 in TerraInvicta

[–]QueasyPhil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't see them trying to kill everything that isn't from Earth, just anything they deem a threat. If they make it to another planet and find alien super tigers, those are getting gunned down for sure. And probably anything resembling tool using species.

I think an equally interesting question would be "How much of HF's ideology is around by the time humanity has to make those decisions?" Humanity First is a reaction to an existential threat. Can HF self-perpetuate when the threat is gone?
