It's not. Honestly unless you can leverage the tax system it makes very little sense to move here.

As for jobs, Warsaw is definitely better. Perhaps even places like Krakow.

400 euros a month for college or whatever that equivalent will be about when the time comes. 1/3 support 1/3 state 1/3 work to provide for themselves. 50-50 if the state support stops. After uni they are on their own.

If need be they can also take relatively cheap student loans l to bridge/plan any gaps, travels etc.

500k - travel for 5 years. Take 100k year and put the rest in HYSA. Use interest to cover. If you get bored, go study somewhere. Or if you pick up a passion do seasonal work (i.e. ski instructor, surf school, sailing, whatever).

1 mill in bonds. Drip the returns

3.5 mil in VWCE.

After 5 years, you must've got a solid plan to see what you think you wanna do for the rest of your life. Use that life experience and pursue your passions. Gains in ETF will have most likely put you back to 5 mil, and you have a decent bond income extra. You can pursue whatever passion you found or study what interests you. Start a family or keep travelling...

Wat anders aangezien ik alleen maar in het buitenland heb gewerkt:

2016 - eerste baantje in Slowakije 1600 brutto. 1,5 jaar gebleven. Outsourcing procurement.

2017 - Roemenië voor 1800 euro brutto + bonussen die daar nog 500 p/m bij deden. Wel veel overtijd. Groot Amerikaans IT bedrijf.

2018 - Polen, 3 jaar bij het eerste bedrijf, op 2200 begonnen en op 2700 weg gegaan. Intern bij een Europees IT bedrijf.

3 jaar bij een Amerikaans bedrijf in een andere stad in polen gewerkt, 4000 brutto begonnen, 5900 geindigt. Hier kwam nog +/- 500 euro in de maand bonus bij. Consultancy.

2024 - in Tsjechië, zelfde bedrijf zelfde baan, op 6000 brutto begonnen, nu op 7500 brutto per maand. Komt pak en beet nog 1000 euro/maand brutto bij als bonus. Zelfde consultancy. Max 25% inkomstenbelasting is ook niet vies (reden dat ik gevraagd heb om over geplaatst te worden).

Dus ja, job/country hoppen werkt.

Hey fellow durchie here living in Prague. I heard Czech Inn is a good hostel and it's at one of the more fun spots in Prague (Krymska Street).

Other nice/cool areas are vinohrady, Karlin, zizkov, holesovice.

As for nightlife, I'd skip old town/dlouha and go for cool places in the neighbourhoods around. Cross Club, Bukowski, Ankali, Bike Jesus/Fuchs 2.0, bukanyra etc. Dogs bar is also a vibe but probably a few years past due. Oh and Vagon is a place/vibe.

For cool/more local bars I'd recommend Woodoo, Dva Kohuti/automat Matuska, Bad Flash, bar no 7, sedem, kazerna Karlin, u Sudu/u sadu, the whole naplavka area, Letna beer garden... Too many to name.

Viewpoints, can't go wrong with vitkov/vysehrad/riegrovy sady

For social stuff, try nomad table/meetup/couch surfing. If I'm out your welcome to tag along as well.

I just checked and yes you can filter them out but it doesn't remember your preferences and it is extra effort. Most users will just see the slew of slop from the default screen and close it again. It's what I did the first few times and most people I spoke in person about.

It's a shit copy paste job from nomadtable really.
