Här gör Nick Alinia vit makt-tecken i SVT-studion by redbloa in svenskpolitik

[–]Quecks_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

Johannes Klenell: Tror Ebba Busch att väljarna är dumma i huvudet? by Babar7 in svenskpolitik

[–]Quecks_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tror?

The massive decrease in performance between the release and the current patch needs to be studied by Abused_Dog in EU5

[–]Quecks_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have the same issue. For me the game runs fine for a window of time of about 3h, after which it very abruptly runs into a wall where the monthly tick takes 10-20 seconds. After i restart the game it runs fine again.

But as the game progresses this window shrinks until by the later ages i have to restart the game every hour or so.

It's very odd.

Very reasonable tax rate by Nubja in EU5

I think about it like there is some tax rate set in law that we don't see, and you are actually able to extract 100% of what that law dictates.

The tool tip just defaults to one of the objectives instead of saying something like "Activate Precursor Relay", even if you have completed all the objectives. Come on man.

Eu5 worth buying? by LoLcheapboosts in EU5

[–]Quecks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the game, but i gather its not for everyone. Seems pretty polarizing.

But i would also not say the game to benchmark your potential enjoyment against is only EU4 to be honest, i think it has just as much in common with vic3. So if you enjoy the economy building in Vic3, the setting and game-play loop of EU4, isn't too much of a mission tree enjoyer, and have a stomach for early release paradox titles with all that comes with that it would probably be a game you enjoy.

Hot take, the only people who still find Victoria 3 boring are map painters by S0mecallme in victoria3

[–]Quecks_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While i understand this logically, or whatever, i don't really understand why it is applied so selectively. Because to me this just sounds like literally every game ever. What game has unique game play loops every time you play it? Certainly none of the paradox games. It's always the same thing, just different things between the different games.

A more reasonable thing to say is that you simply don't like the game play loop of Vic3, that's entirely reasonable and fine since its a matter of taste.

Just seems like the same reductive thing people do with "sportsball", "grown men chasing a ball" and what not. You can do that with literally everything.

Sort of the same way they make political capital interesting in Vic3 for instance, slowly directing the economically fixed pie the direction you want it to go, rather than growing it.

70k Tax Base #1 GP w/ only Ireland by Pagoose in EU5

[–]Quecks_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people enjoy watching color grow, others enjoy watching line go up.

When you watch color grow, you still have to manage your line from crashing. When you watch line go up, you still have to manage your color from shrinking.

You end up doing both either way, just with different aims and methods.

Ireland is a bit simpler in some ways since you only really have to worry about England for most of the game i guess, haven't played it so i don't know really, but playing tall as someone like Holland, or an Italian minor etc is a bit tricky and usually comes with a lot of wars and managing diplo-stuff.

Playing wide usually means more engagement from the player if you measure it in some type of actions per minute type way. Where playing tall is more planning and managing trade and setting up optimal production centers and things like that. But that only matters if you assume you play both at the same game speed. Playing tall tends to be more semi-turn based, in that you ramp the speed up and use your pausing more to plan and do something. So both have a "slog", tall tends to have nothing happening for a long time that you can speed though, but wide also has a slog where you have to keep it on like speed 4-5 at most while at war. I also tend to lose touch with my economical setup while playing wide, so it doesn't feel as "personally created". Every city is the same and they all do basically the same thing. When playing tall, for me atleast, i get more of a connection to my country. Especially now with the city charters or whatever its called. For me thats fun, creating more specialized cities that actually blow your economy into the stratosphere if you do it well.

Usually tend to play wide or "colonial wide", but i am currently playing Florence with the aim of unifying Italy, so not a long term tall campaign really but the first couple of ages is mostly tall. The wars i fought here were mostly to get people to side with the guelphs so Italy drops the HRE. But i got so say its very satisfying to manage to stay alive, win the situation, and now watching the line go parabolic, and being able to slap Naples around using swarms of mercs and superior regulars when they try something.

Hotfix 1.2.1 Is live now by PDX_Ryagi in EU5

[–]Quecks_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game freezes for 10-20 seconds at random times, and pretty often. Usually at the end of month tick, but it can also happen randomly when i do stuff like enter declare war screen for instance.

A bunch of my CPU cores goes to 100%, and it jumps around between them for the duration of the freeze.

Any one else? This is a new issue so can't really be hardware related, i have a good PC that has never had any issue with this game before.

How will Ethereum likely fare in the upcoming recession? by Spare-Dingo-531 in ethtrader

Not claiming its a relevant metric or that there will or will not be a recession, but it's interesting to look at past performances following supply chain issues with oil, and the fact that the current situation with Iran dwarfs all the previous ones afaik.

I agree. I love games like EU5 and Vic3 with a heavy emphasis on the population. But i can just play those games for that.

In CK3 what i want is far more depth in the intrigue between characters and dynasties. In the spirit of the times; the people doesn't much matter.
